Knock off 2006 Mugen grille on ebay....

I found this on ebay, a knock off of the 2006 Mugen grille. I already have the real mugen grille just need to get it painted. I thought I would put this on here for those of you who want a cheaper version of the grille but I would expect some fitment issue as most knock off stuff from ebay have.

I think the seller is using Eurtsx' pic as one of the sample pics.

LOL, that's my picture, and right under mine, is DC_TSX(Chris)'s picture. How ironic, we're both Chris' too.

Sometimes I wish the mugen grill used the "honey comb" grill instead of the chicken wire looking stuff...

totally agree. Main PROBLEM with thee ebay grills are fitment and installation (obviously)
I have seen A-zine members with 04~05 ebay grills not fitting, looking ugly, having gaps after installation... eww

not blaming the seller at all, he's a great seller, has many other grills for other cars.

It's just that the grill might not fit perfect. and after spending 130 bucks, if you see gaps between the grill and the body... no one's gonna be happy.

saw his feedback, contacted a guy who bought this item for his tsx, still waiting for his response about the item.

as you read the item in ebay, seller says

"Modifications may be required
to customize the fitment."

as long as it fits right, and it's easy bolt on, i'll buy this.

I got a tsx cf grill fit ment wasn't flushed at all buldged out a bit I had to press it in with zipties, but I couldn't fix the fitment of the grill till i removed the whole bumper.

see the left side bluged out and bottem didn't fit into the grover I also drew wholes at the top and used zipties to hold it down, the bottom part i redid eventually, but my accident screwed it up good.

looked pretty decent but i had to push it in a few times when it was cold it seemed to pop out, the bottom wholes weren't drilled yet.

Doesn't matter really the cf grill is bye bye

how do you think it held up being ziptied to the bumper and having hit the car in front of me, and then me running over my whole bumper.

Using others' photos, particularly if it's NOT the product being sold, is pretty damn inethical. Violates eBay rules, too.

Mine came out pretty good with a little trimming with a diamond blade before painting.

Cost me AU$147 delivered to Australia.

Can't complain about a little fitting, and found the grille was well made.

The other car in the eBay ad is DC_TSX. Am I the only one who thinks it could be a local troll?

I was intrested in the 04-05 grill (from ebay) for quite some time, "merlin086" what do you mean by trimming ? can you explain the process, does the bumper require removal?

^^ I am aware it’s a 06-07 grill, there is an identical 04-05 grill on eBay that I was talking about, maybe you should look first?, anyway I was concerned about fitment since both grills would have almost identical installations I was assuming.

If you do a search on this site, many posts have covered the 04-05 grill on eBay before, besides both grills look quite different if you check again, hope it helps.

No, it will not fit. The 06-07 is wider.

A common problem seems to be with some aftermarket for the 03-05 has been a gap at the bottom point of the grille.
Being a different grille for the 06>, I expected some sort of fitment issue.
The problem I found was that the bottom point was too long, so I had to trim about 1/4" off the lower points of the sides to get a even margin down the sides.

I used a diamond blade in my angle grinder, and then sanded with wet and dry.

Took about 10 minutes altogether, and no need to remove bumper.
Just remove the radiator cover to access the clips, and remember with the 06 you can still use the cover again.

I looked at getting the 06 sports model grille, but don't like the cheap looking plastic horizontal bars, and here in Oz the dealers want $380 painted.

I much prefer the honeycomb style of the 03-05 model, but doesn't fit the 06>.

Mesh grille looks great with the lower vents meshed too....
