Intelligent Key for '07?

Even the lowly Nissan Sentra has it now.

I have a feeling it's going to come out for the '07 model.
That's gonna suck for me since I'm getting the '06.

What other features would you guys like to see for the '07?

My guess is yes, they'll do it for the TL and TSX in 2007, but I have not confirmation.... just the key man's guess.

I think that would be too major ($$) a change for the interior. Not till the full model change in 08. By that time it might even trickle down to the Accord.

The Infiniti G35 mid-model did it in so I think Acura can pull it off if they really wanted to

I think it is very hard to say....it all depends the amount of changes they have to make for the intelligent key. If the current ignition switch is swappable with intelligent key switch, we might see it in MY2007. And i have a feeling that there might be LED tail lights for the TSX in MY2007. They will probably not redesign the tail lights, but they will make the current version in LED form, maybe just change the bulb or something. The result is i don't see acura letting the TSX (supposingly a bit more advanced than the Accord) fall too behind over the Accord.

Actually a more accurate comparison would be with the Inspire. The JDM Accord has the same interior as the USDM Accord, while the JDM Inspire has the same interior as the TSX. The Inspire currently has the intelligent key, so it's definitely doable.

Doable--yes. Likely to actually happen--not so much. There is no incentive for Acura to do it on an outgoing design. With the likely total redesign for 2008 or 2009, that is when we will most likely see the addition of the intelligent key system.

Besides, don't forget just how many parts are involved in the intelligent key system: the self adjusting starter, the door handles, the steering column "key" cylinder, the transponder unit for the remotes, and the additional software to run all this. It would be very expensive to add it to the TSX.

And I believe that in Japan, the intelligent key system is an option, not standard.

I think we will see it in the TL next year, not the TSX

TL is next in line for major changes

No, just the new Sentra, which is a completely new redesign.
I'm guessing each newly redesigned Nissan will eventually get keyless start.

I think we have a winner for the first person complaining about the lack of features in the 06.

There will always be new features in cars!!!!!!!!

The Accords in Japan have it as an option. MrHeelToe and Modaway need to hook us up on this one =)

I've already looked into it using the RL as a baseline. Let's just say the cost is extremely prohibitive. The key alone is nearly $260 then you have about 4 RF units with antennas, some sort of computer module and who knows what else. It would be great to see it in a 2007 since almost everyone else is going to one too, but it does make more sense to release it with a model change.

Hmm... you have an exact number for us? It'd be cheaper than trading in for an 07 I'm sure =P

well, they gotta add something to 2007. probably nothing major, but it would be nice if they added it. personally, i don't care since i'll have the 2006 probably til 2009 or 2010, then consider my next car, maybe by then, an M3!

Hmmm... since it's already available in Japan, I'd say the chances are even better that it will show up in the '07 TSX.

Maybe I'll wait for the '07 instead now.
Intelligent key, LED tails and a taller 6th gear would quell all complaints from me

who says that honda/acura (or any other car company) has to add something to their car every year? most car companies make changes to color availability... look, the tsx just got a midyear refresh, chances are acura will keep the 07 unchanged.

The only thing that might change is the late in the year intro - maybe move up the 07 availability to the more regular Sept schedule and then an early release of the remodeled 08.

Or pull a GM and skip the MY07 altogether and go to a MY08 TSX in like Feb/Mar 07.

Well, look at the change from '04 to '05 and 2004 was the intro of a brand new model.
Power passenger seat, heated mirrors, mirror turn signals...

Mirror turn signals were standard on all TSXes, including 2004s.

i just think they need to add incentive, with so much speculation of a new model in 2008. it'd be harder to sell a 2007 if they have leftover 2006, and a new model coming in 2008. even if it's just some minor improvements, they'll add a few things.

maybe power lumbar! lol. they skimped on some funny stuff. they're slowly creeping into more luxuries.

i was at a party tonight, and a girl there just got a brand new v6 accord coupe. i didnt see her interior, but she was talking to a mutual friend and mentioned how she looked at the TSX, but it was the same car for $4,000 more. i just bit my tongue and didn't say anything. in her defense, at least she had the v6 so she had some right to talk, but BLAH! same car!? no way. she didn't even know what "bluetooth" meant!

Yeah, every year they've added some new features here and there. I really hope they can get intelligent keys on the 2007s so the rest of us can pick it up and add it to ours as well. I'm tired of wrapping my fob in saran wrap so it wont' get scratched up - if that little fob with the hidden key was all I had to carry and it never had to leave my pocket, how sweet would that be =)

Eww, Accord interior, terrible quality leather.

Well from what i have heard from some people "in the know" at my local Acura dealership it sounds like they might offer a turbocharged version of the TSX as well as the Si that would bump up the bhp to about 250hp. If they did this it would make my desicion between the Legacy GT and the TSX a no brainer! For not everything is just rumors but i am crossing my fingers!

like u said, it was the intro of a brand new model. it wouldnt make much sense to add even more features to an already well equipped car at the end of it's current model lifecycle...and also to keep it at the same price range. honda is known to make little cosmetic changes yearly, but stuff like intelligent key, turbocharged engine, etc...just doesnt seem very logical for an 07 model...this stuff would most likely be introduced in the next TSX. the only thing i see coming for 07 are LED taillights.

i deal with car data every day at my work. the 2006 nissan models, for exmaple, im working on tat a.) aren't new models b.) had just had a refresh a year or 2 ago...
do not have any new additions to the cars except color changes, an Mp3 player/ aux input and revised fabric/leather trims...

I could get them if you really want them, but I'm pretty certain you'd need wiring looms that don't exist and the ECU wouldn't be compatible either. Too much is different.

I think that's the majority of what people do though. They seem to cross-shop the TL and TSX with the Accord and they don't know enough to tell the difference, so they get the Accord.
