Insurance on a TSX

I know that insurance prices are different everywhere and there are a lot of factors to consider. My question is just if the TSX has higher insurance than an Accord? I've got a 99 Accord LX that I'm selling and will buy a TSX when that is gone. I'm just curious (and lazy because I suppose I could just call my insurance agent and find out ) if the TSX is higher or lower or about the same. Did any of you compare the difference between the new accords and the TSX as far as insurance costs go? I'd be interested to hear about it. The wife wants an Accord and I want the TSX. I just haven't heard anything good about the new Accords and nothing but great things about the TSX. I think the cost difference isn't as much of a factor when you really consider what all you get with the TSX in comparison.

part of the cost to insure a car has to do with its replacement value. a 99 accord even new costs less than a TSX and your talking a 99 accord. so of course it will cost more.

My insurance is very high for my TSX, while my 1992 Accord sedan is the cheapest. The CR-V is in between....they are all under full coverage. I don't know why the TSX costs more to insure....my driving record is very good, no accidents or speeding tickets. I guess depends on where you live.

I'm just wanting to know between a new accord and a new TSX. I'm sure that either one will be more than my current Accord, but we are going to sell it and buy either a new Accord or a TSX. I was just curious if anyone else had compared the '04 Accord insurance to the '04 TSX insurance.

well i had an 03 accord bought in January
and got my 04 tsx in August.
Im still on the same policy but my policy jumped from 2800 a year for the accord to 4100 for the TSX.

I think it may have alot to do with the cars features, acura badge, and rarity. I wll post an update on my insurance renewal price in January!
Wish me luck I really cant afford this insurance!!!
I wanna buy another car but only if i can get my insurance on the tsx under 2gs a year.

I'm surprised by the huge jump AKay saw. I previsouly had a 98 Civic, and when I got my TSX, my insurance stayed within dollars of what it had been. I guess it depends on the company/state/etc, etc, etc.... Maybe I just go lucky.

In Central Cali, TSX insurance is fairly cheap. Since it is considered a 4 cyl sedan.

BTW, BassMechanic I am getting the new quote for my insurance today with the coverage you sugjested.

I pay $2500/year with a terrible record with esurance.com You guys need to go check it out. They're saving me about $2000 over GEICO.

From a just-wrecked TSX owner, I can attest that the newness of the car to U.S. shores has a lot to do with the fact that insurance on a TSX is higher than some cars costing more.

I was rear-ended by a hit-and-run driver on Monday (They left a fender at the scene with their VIN etched on it - we will catch the bastard). The repair costs for the right rear 1/4 of my car were $8800. Unfortunately, they wouldn't total it because my insurance company needs 80% of ACV in damages to do so. But, there are no aftermarket body parts (not even paint) available at this time for the TSX.

I asked about the difference between insuring a 2003 Accord EXV6 Navi and my TSX Navi before I bought. The difference was less than $150 a year.

In fact, the TSX only cost me about $350 more a year to insure than my 1994 Accord LX that I sold.

Those are real numbers in Long Island, NY -- a fairly expensive insurance rate (although lower than NJ or Brooklyn, for example.)
