I'm interested in purchasing an '06 TSX but need some feedback
I'm new to this forum. I am interested in buying an '06 TSX, and I was wondering if some of the current TSX owners can post what they honestly feel are the positives and negatives of the TSX. Could also you comment on the reliability (i.e. what all repairs did you have to get done at their respective mileages)?
I want an entry level luxury sports sedan, and the TSX seems like it fills the bill, but I just want some feedback so that I have more confidence in my decision.
Thanks

These are rated well by Consumers magazine, are well liked by their owners, and have proven reliable after some squeek and rattle issues were worked out. Most road tests/comparisons I've read are positive. Do a search, there's tons of information.

The 323i BMW lists for $700 less, but costs $800 to get the paint you'll likely want - probably just to give them negotiationg room, and that's about all you'll get vs $1,500Cdn+ on a TSX;
* TSX has a highly-stressed, high-reving I4 with 166 lb-ft vs a "lower"-reving I6 with 170 lb-ft, whith about 12mm less piston travel, and likely easier on the clutch: both cars weigh the same, and have traction control and stability control. I'll bet the TSX is the hands-down clearly faster car, and easier to drive fast;
* Is the TSX's magnesium transmission case prone to cracking? The important thing is will Acura stand behind a cracked transmission case, with too much hassle?
* The BMW will need $3200 worth of new 16" snow tires, 17" summer tires, and 17" alloy rims within the first year of ownership: the BMW is RWD;
* The BMW gives you 80,000km or 4 years of free maintenance, excluding wear items;
* The BMW gives you 12 years on rust perforation vs I suggest you rust-proof your Acura;
Cruise costs $2000 as part of a BMW package, there's no leather unless you pay for it, and a host of other things that you may or may not care about are extra;
* The TSX's backseat gives the middle passenger an extra 2-3" (regardless of the actual dimensions, it's how the outside seats position the bodies that seems to matter), and it's trunk is 1 cu. ft. larger.
* The TSX is more inconspicuous, less ostentatious;
* The TSX is in year 3 of a 4 or 5 year model cycle; the BMW is in year 1 (watch out for new car glitches, but they do build 450,000 of them a year) of probably 6;
* I've called dealers asking for parts and labour breakdowns for: clutch, cat-back exhaust, and brakes; that twin-muffler high-flow exhaust on a TSX probably costs a bundle, but I'll bet any speed shot could give you a BMW replacement.
