Icelink and SHOND3
Are these 2 products the same? Like do they do the same thing, or do you need both of them to use an IPOD? I read the FAQ section on Auxilary ports (the 1st post anyway) and it only mentions SHOND3 as the only product out there, but now I'm starting to see people with Dension Icelink products? Im confused, can someone clear this up for me?

There are two types of products:
1) AUX inputs. These allow anything with an RCA output (or a mini headphone to RCA converter cable) to be connected to the OEM stereo. You get audio - but no iPod charging, no cradle, and no controls from song to song or playlist to playlist. THese include the SHOND3 and the Blitz AUX adapter. These are cheaper than type 2, and also work for satellite radio interfaces and non-iPod mp3 players.
2) iPod interfaces. These include the iceLink, the Blitz D-MAX adapter, and the Monster iCruze, among others. These allow the steering wheel and CD Player controls to operate the iPod as if it were a CD changer - playlists are "discs" and tracks are tracks. They also charge the iPod, and some (icelink) come with a cradle, while others (Blitz) come with a cable. These cost more.
Support in various Acuras with nav, without nav, with OEM XM, and without OEM XM is spotty and not to be answered in one post (not by me, it ain't). YOu say what you ahve and we'll tell you what will work (in the AV forum or in the FAQ section, I suspect: )
