Icelink and XM in 04 TSX NonNav questions
Hey everyone, looking for some guidance here...
First, I just want you all to know that I have searched the forums and come up with some answers, but nothing definitive, so here I am.
I want to connect my iPod using the Icelink (to preserve steering wheel control), and an XM commander to the factory head unit. Now, from what I have gleaned from the searches I have done, I would need to do the following:
-XM commander and Icelink into switcher
-Switcher to SNHOND3 or other similar interface
-interface to head unit
Now, I have read on this site that the Icelink essentially comes with the SNHOND3 included, so my initial thoughts were to connect the Icelink and Commander to the same SNHOND3 using an RCA 2-->1 Y-cable and basically carry two signals through the AUX imput. I imagined this would work fine as long as the sources were never on at the same time, but from reading here it appears such a setup is frowned upon.
Here's the other problem. i went to BestBuy and looked at an Icelink Plus. it was the correct model for Honda/Acura (pink box). The thing is there was no SNHOND3 in there. It appeared to connect the iPod directly to the back of the head unit via the 14-pin connector. There were no RCA imputs anywhere like I expected.
So I guess i am asking how to get this done. If the Icelinks are shipping without any RCA connections, then the switcher idea is out. I suppose I could splice the 14-pin connectors of an Icelink and an SNHOND3 together and connect the XM to the SNHOND.....
Any ideas, please let me know. I'm not usually this stupid when it comes to stuff like this....
Cheers
Dave
