I just watched a 3 minute hail storm...

...drop marble sized hail all over my 2 month old TSX from my office window. It was painful to watch, and there was nothing I could do. Lucky it didn't appear to do any damage. My buddy is suppossed to detail it this weekend, hopefully he doesn't come across any dings or chips. That was crazy, me and my coworkers were just standing watching in horror. yikes.

Man, that would have made me SICK. Hope nothing serious comes up. I saw a trick once on how to get out small shallow dents. Something to do with Dry ice and a match. Popped the dent right out. Anyone else hear or see this? I think it was on Horspower TV a few years ago.

I would've ran out and covered the car with something, my own body, someone elses body, anything.

Southwest VA, Roanoke area. My office was in the area that got the worst of the storm. I wish I'd of had a video camera. It looked liked some dropping a bunch of white marbles from the sky. It was bouncing across the grass, kind of neat. Except for the part where it was bouncing off my car.

If I live in an area that hailed frequently I would carry in my trunk a reinforced car cover. If possible I would just cover the TSX if its possible to predict it.

that person would be me, over 30-40 dings on my front hook, trunk, roof, and side panel cost me 400 bucks to get dent repair to take them out.. about 4 hours

haha. That was recommended several times by my coworkers. But from the looks of the hail, I might have taken more damage than the car. I wonder if I could have claimed workman's comp?

ouch. I would have probably cried. I keep waiting for my first ding. 30-40 all at once... I feel my heart siezing...

I went out to my car this morning and saw a bunch of specs glimering in the sunlight. I almost freaked until I realized it was just loose debris.

I've only lived here a year, and this is the first hail storm I've seen. About 6 months ago a coworker who just bought a brand new Suburu had her her beat up by hail around her home. That really scared me until someone told me she was actaully driving in it

Does anybody sell Batmobile armor for the TSX? And can it be integrated into my key fob?

Update

I found about 5 little dents on the roof of my TSX this weekend. They are very small and barely noticable unless the light is hitting just right. I also found two small dents in the chrome trim above the passenger's door.

I may try the remove them myself, I've heard there is a dry ice trick. Does anyone have experience with it? I'm not sure if it's worth getting insurance involved or not.

Sorry to hear that... I read the thread and it hurt jsut thinking about it... you can't really determine whether to get the insurance involved unless you get an estimate, and compare that to the amount of your deductible, and the rate hike you'll have for the next few years...

Unless that dry ice trick works... I'd love to see what that is (and I'm soooooo glad I park indoors !)

This happened to me when my car was 3 months old and I had dings all over. They were most noticeable when I looked for them at the right angle. If this was a bad storm, a local body shop is probably swarming with insurance adjusters. I brought my car in the next day to a nearby shop, the adjuster did an estimate, about $1,000, then wrote the check to the shop, who had a mobile dentless repair company on hand. Needless to say, I was not the only car there with hail damage. They did a fantastic job repairing the car, I can't even find one dent in it. Fortunately my deductible was $150.

My first dents... in 3 years...

I was temping Tuesday, and park waaaaay out back (about a 10 minute quickpaced walk, the parking closer is a nightmare). A storm rolled in, things got really dark, many of us wandered over to the windows (the side of the building is glass) and ended up watching a couple minutes of golfball sized hail bouncing around...

I was actually shaking for the next 2 hours until I could check on it! I didn't see any then, but apparently the light was very forgiving... there's quite a noticeable dent in the trunk (3 there, one's right in the middle though), one on the upper back driver's side and one on the hood... Luckily we've got a $250 deductible, but I was really hoping to not have to spend that money right now! I'm giving it a good wax Wednesday, I'm hoping I don't find more!

What pisses me off is that had I not been temping, I could have either got it in the garage (as my husband had already left) or at minimum, gotten it well covered next to the house (I've got a CoverCraft, and have been known to slide in our Thermarests to add extra padding)...

Kind of coincidental this thread was brought back from years ago as super-severe storms rocked the general MD area a couple days before the 26th. I don't think there was hail, but there was definitely a lot of debris dropping all over the place. I park outside and was hoping my precious was okay while I watched lightening touch down all around.
