How much tint to put on TSX?

I was wondering, how much tint is too much?

I was thinking 35% was good , but what is the legal limit for tinting?

and if you go over the legal limit which i thought i heard was 20% what is the chance that you will get caught ?

anyone have suggestions/input as to what % to tint? and thoughts/opinions would be welcome...

also..how much does it cost in CDN $$$ for good tint job?

if there are reccomendations..please let me know..

i have heard of THornhill tints thus far..

I have 38% and I think its perfect. I didn't want it to dark but I didn't want it to light either and I think 35-40% fits that perfectly. What color is your car? the interior color? That stuff is gonna matter a lot.

Damn, how do you get around with that in VA when the legal limit is 50% in the front and 35% in the back?!?! I've been pulled over a few times now. The Fairfax county cop that pulled me over told me they are really cracking down one small things like this now. Funny thing is mine is legal but I still got pulled over, he said my tint was too mirrorish

mine is black with black leather interior.

gee..i thought 20% was the legal limit for tinting.

is 38% too dark?

how is the visibility at nite? i think that is what worries me most is that i will not be able to see at nite with the tinting?

also do all tint jobs reflect heat? or only certain types of tint (ie metallic, ceramic, optix, etc)

35% looks good on black, but I wouldn't mind it being a little darker. The laws regarding tint depend on where you live. They all reflect UV rays and keep some heat out. Some might be better than others, though, at keeping out the heat. Visibility at night is fine with 35%.

Luckily I've gotten away with warnings because my percentage was correct (lighter in the front and darker in the back). But, the thing that caught their attention was the reflection because I have metallic tint on my SSM TL-S. In Virginia "Mirror" tint is actually illegal if it reflects a certain amount of light: See below from the Virginia State Police Site:

"No sun-shading or tinting films may be applied or affixed to the rear side windows or rear window or windows of any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this Commonwealth that reduce the total light transmittance of such window to less than thirty-five percent;

No sun-shading or tinting films may be applied or affixed to the front side windows of any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this Commonwealth that reduce total light transmittance of such window to less than fifty percent;

No sun-shading or tinting films shall be applied or affixed to any window of a motor vehicle that (i) have a reflectance of light exceeding twenty percent or (ii) produce a holographic or prism effect."

Consequently I just had my tint redone at 50% all the way around. It's quite light but atl east it's safe

But to get back on topic. It look like you all have pretty lax window tintin laws in Canada, see this link: http://www.supertint.com/auto_films/...g_and_law.html Click on the hyperlink entitled "Provice-by-provice tint law chart"

I have a carbon/ebony and I just had the window tinted the legal limit — 50% sides and 35% rear. With that color combination it looks great. We don't have as of intense of sunlight in the midwest as the south so I was being conservitive. I had 35% sides on my last car and really didn't like the side windows that dark at night. Another consideration is the darker the tint the more you'll notice a bad tint job. That SHOULDN'T be a problem, but the shop which tinted my last car did a horrible job — even after redoing it!

huh... well I hope I don't have any problems. It doesn't look that dark, so I doubt a cop would pull me over unless he's really bored in which case he would probably find something to pull me over for anyway.

50 front/35 rear on NBP in Northern VA. Looks great, F1 pinnacle for navi purposes. Expensive, but looks awesome.

Not sure, might be away on business but if in town I'll be there. Good spot too, follow that road on around and back to Great Falls park...awesome drive.

Very happy with 50/35, not a very visible difference...looks good on black with ebony interior.

Car still stock, only 500 mi, but I'll drop by if I can to see some mods.
