How much for 30k service

Hey, I just got a 30K service done on my 2006 TSX and was charged $380. They didn't even change the power steering fluid and the brake fluid. Is this reasonable? I live in Phoenix area.

exactly what did they do for that price-never paid that much-the last service I had done on my 06 was the B12 (I follow the codes not the mileage) cost me $180.00 which included oil/filter change, tires rotated/balanced, both filters changed, brakes cleaned, all fluids checked and filled (if needed) plus a complete check-up. They also repaired the painted-on pinstripes that were messed up by another dealer for free (they repainted them) They then did a complete detail on my car. My car has 86,000+miles. A lot of other posters will tell you that you can do most of the service cheaper yourself. TRUE-but I am not into that so I waste my money on letting somone else do it. My car is stock-my mod money goes for service and roadtrips. I do not smoke which is a huge waste of money IMO

List out what they did from your receipt and we can let you know.

A detailed list including labor hours and parts is needed to compare apples to apples. Labor is $125.00 per hour in the NYC area. Dealers in NYC area charge 3-3.5 hours of labor plus another 90-100 for parts.

oil, filer, engine air filter, AC filter, transmission fluid, wiper blades, inspect fluid levels, inspect brakes, drive belt, drive shaft boots, hoses and lines, cooling hoses and connections, exhaust systems, fuel lines and connections, lights and controls, lubricate hinges, locks and latches, test battery, rotate and balance tires.
Pretty annoying that they replaced the transmission fluid (manual clearly says if driving in mountainous or low speeds or towing it needs to be replaced after 60k and then onwards every 30k). Even more annoying is the fact they didn't replace the brake fluid when the manual clearly says it needs to be replaced every 3 years.
Thanks for your responses.

Both my MT and brake fluids have not been changed yet-the dealer checked them and said they were fine and to wait until the car was 3 years old. It will be in November with at least 90,000 miles by then

That price doesn't seem extremely high for dealer prices. A B12 at a Honda dealer runs $250 which includes the air filter changes, oil change and inspections. Add $75 for a transmission fluid change and you are at $325. Plus it's Acura so they mark it up further.

Just in comparison, parts would probbaly run about $60-75.

You could have saved a significant amount of money ($100-120) if you changed the filters yourself. It takes no more than 15 minutes even on the first try to replace them. Check on the forum for the how-to guides the next time you need to change them. The transmission fluid was done too early. You should get the brake fluid changed every 3 years so if you go back raise hell with the service manager first to give you a huge discount on the fluid change, then go to the GM if you don't get anywhere.

You have the Maintenance Minder system in your vehicle. It will tell you when to change certain things (not all such as brake fluid). Don't let the dealer tell you what you should do.

I was charged $180.00 (incl tax) for the B12 service at a Acura dealer

You got one heck of a deal. As you know I do most of the repairs myself so I have no idea what they charge for some of these things. The prices that I was mentioning were from a pamphlet I got at Conicelli Honda in Conshohocken, PA. Most dealers from what I have heard charge around $150 for the two filters.

But does it make sense he didn't change the brake fluid but replaced the transmission fluid? Per the manual this doesn't make sense. In the inspection report it says steering fluid and brake fluid need immediate attention. Now I am going to have to take the car back again for these 2 fluid changes. Such rip off....

I was told by the dealer I take my car to for service-every 3 years for MTF and brake fluid change. They did check it and said it was ok the last time I was there. I think your dealer is old school still.

But the MM system will tell you when to change the transmission fluid. You can do it earlier but are just wasting money just like if you were to change your oil every 3k miles.

No notice yet on the MM system yet-The dealer has checked it for me many times and always says still good-no need to change it yet. Not all dealers are stealerships

I just had my 30K service a month ago at my Acura Dealership. Here was my breakdown for cost:

The "B" part of it was 175
The "2" part of it (air filter and dust/pollen filters) = 140
The "3" part of it was 91 for replacing transmission fluid

Just over 400 total.

i asume you guys are talking about replacing the auto tranny fluid? (cause MT fluid is usually very 15K) im pretty sure the auto tranny fluid only needds to be changed at about 60-88k miles. and brake fluid can last very very long, about 80k as well.

I thought it was the other way around-ATF should be changed more often than MTF.

my car hit 30k but the minder says A1 service only. the dealer said 30k service would be fluids flush but I said A1 service only since its what minder said. I was afraid to find out what it'd cost for the dealer to do their 30k service. I always decline the air filter and AC filter service since that i can do myself without getting my hands too dirty.
