Honda Accord Sedan, Wins Another and does 0-60 in 6.5
Fresh off its win of an Edmunds 8 car comparo, the Honda Accord Sedan V6 also won another 4 car comparo in the latest MT. It beat out the Camry, Galant and Malibu. I have yet to see a comparo that the Honda accord has'nt won. In this MT comparo they write,
It went on to do 0-60 in 6.5 sec and the 1/4 mile in 14.91 sec. The only interesting thing I noticed was the price., $28,400 for the navi which puts in on par with the TSX.
What makes me happy about all the lavish praise that the Accord receives is that you can multiply it 5x when it comes to the TSX, except in the Engine department. When they praise the Accords handling capabilities and say,
then you can only imagine how good the TSX is.
But when I consider the fact that I could have had an Accord EX V6 for about 4k less than my TSX I sometimes wonder if I made the right decesion. Then I see the Accords rear end and I know I did. But I will freely admit that if the Accord had nicer rear end styling I'd be in one today.
The voting was close from fourth place through second. But our winner ran away in a landslide. Every one of our six test drivers ranked the Honda first in this comparison

When I was car shopping I was interested in the following:
Honda Accord
Acura TSX
Mazda 6
The Honda only came in an AT with the V6 (I wanted a sedan), so I test drove that and the MT I-4. Both were damn good cars and a serious step up from the 1998-2002 model year Accords (which I owned before).
Test drove the Mazda 6. It felt real anemic in the high end and just cheap on the interior. Not to mention I priced out the cost of ownership versus the Accord and TSX and it was actually MORE expensive to own than those two in the long run (although not by much).
Drove the TSX. Sportier, less engine, and all the trimmings. I got the TSX for the handling.

One of the first comparison tests that included the new Accord (I think C/D's) said that it felt more Germanic than the VW Passat in the test.
LJK Setright once wrote styling isn't nearly as important as a car's dynamics since the view of the car he mostly expected to have was from the driver' seat. I don't think the Accord's styling is any worse than Bangle's BMWs and is better than Cadillac's.
I bought the TSX because I wanted 4 doors, a stick shift and enough power to be amusing. The 17" wheels, HIDs, strut tower brace and VSA are just gravy.
THIS is NOT a nice looking car.
THIS is.
I place the new Accord somewhere on the spectrum between these two extremes.

Domn, of course you made the right decision in getting the TSX over the Accord V6!!! I am one of the few people here who actually thought that the current Accord was a very good looking car (I still do!). I loved the side profile and (shock, shock, horror, horror) the rear too!!! However, before I drove the TSX, I thought that the Accord V6 had it all for what I needed. Then came the TSX test drive and the Accord V6 was just OUT immediately, despite the difference in the pricing.
Surely the TSX is not as fast as the Accord, but like you said yourself, the handling is just WAY better, the exterior styling is much better and the interior is much more luxurious and sporty. The TSX is plenty fast for my needs. If the Accord handling was like a BMW, then what does that make the TSX?! I thought the TSX was WAY much more BMW like than the Accord!!! The Accord V6's handling was a bit too numb for me. The steering was not precise enough and the body roll was more pronounced.
Isn't it nteresting that THE benchmark is always a BMW, huh? Well, I LOVE BMW's, if only the 3 series were more reliable...

Oooooo! I guess all the Accord really needed was a new Hood and skirts. That kit looks very nice. Maybe they'll change the hood for next year. I'll get dad to buy the V6 Accord for himself (he needs room for hauling people from time to time), but I'll still buy the TSX. I love those mirrors and the Xenon lights.

I don't think I could ever own an Accord sedan. There are just too many of them. Also, if you talk to another TSX owner there's at least a good chance that they're willing/able to talk about cars with you.
