Hit a coyote!

I was driving to work on Friday at about 4:30 AM on a highway in the middle of the city, going about 80 kph (50 mph), when all of sudden a coyote flashed across my headlights, I barely had time to react and hit the brakes. I thought that I had to have hit the coyote, but did not hear a thump and did not see anything behind me. I arrived at work, took a quick look at my car and did not see anything and thought that it was one lucky coyote.

Today as we were leaving my daughters home, my wife said what happen to the front of your car.

Although there is no dent, the little grill by the fog light was pushed in, the centre grill had some damage and the front quarter panel was slightly out of line. Closer examination also revealed some coyote hair.

No scratches or dents. I'm not sure how much the 3M clear bra helped with that.

I guess the coyote wasn't so lucky afterall.

I will take some pics in the light tomorrow.

Excited

20cm stingray barb through the left side of his chest. Probably through the heart.

Steve Irwin...so ironic...not a crocodile, but a sting ray of all things.

I heard it hit his heart and he pulled it out of his own chest before he died... that's almost Chuck Norris-ly badass.

Best part? Discovery got the whole thing on film, true story. His wife will decide if the footage gets released to the public.

Yup, for some reason I missed that the thread had been going on for while. Maybe the screen didn't finish loading or I was still half asleep this morning.

Yeah, Steve Irwin

Sorry to hear about the accident Exicted. I hope the damaged isn't too bad. If it's the grill that's damaged, maybe it's Mugen Grill time

The crazy thing is that ray barbs are usually serrated, so the process of taking it out is MUCH more painful than the process of the barb protruding the skin.

RIP mate.

RIP mate.

maybe if he hadnt pull it out right away, he would've made it. the moment he pulled that thing out, the barb probably ripped everything apart not to mention blood gushing out

No, necrotoxins in a stingray barb is deadly. Once it gets into the body cavity, you'll rot from the inside over a week and the doctors can't neutralize it because there is no bloodflow through the cavity.
