Highway Mileage

I drove 100 miles....on a full tank of gas.

I reset the Trip on the Navi after filling up. After i drove the 100 miles (90 on highway, 10 city driving) i got

37.1 MPG

that is UNREAL.....how off is that navi MPG meter?

How fast were you driving?? I once got 35mpg driving about 200 miles on I-95 at about 65mph.

TSX Cman- I was forced to go 65mph due to traffic. Which pissed me off at the time but it was good to find out I got 35mpg. But I normally get 28-30mpg on the highway traveling 80-95mph.

I've found the navi meter does some funny averaging sometimes.. the first 1/2 tank it's usually kinda off. Today I had cruise on at 60mph and the MPG bar on the trip computer was all the way to 50mpg for quite some time. I'm not sure that's accurate unless the TSX is a hybrid and nobody told us anything.

I have found that the Navi is always about 5-15% higher then the actual.

To stay true to the thread, I typically get about 30-32 mpg on the highway at about 80 mph. I too run into the 10% over estimation on MPG by the navi system very consistently. Anyone know how to adjust the navi system to adjust for this discrepancy?

Around the city it always makes me chuckle to realize that for all the 200hp, 130+mph top speed, and other wonderful features these things have, my average mph is something like 30mph.

21/24 in city driving, 29/33 in highway driving, depending upon the average speed. 33 if cruising at 65, lower if cruising at 85/90. Blended driving usually nets me about 25 mpg. also depends on how aggressively I drive - mileage during my breakin period was better, though they told me it would be worse.......

Sauceman averaged somewhere around your 37mpg, so it is possible, but I'm pretty sure it was the computation error.

The best average I had so far is still below 30, and I do a lot of highway driving.

So where does the error come from?

Its got the mileage down to <1%. Is it the gas level it gets confused on?

I've never seen a problem except for yesterday, when it was <20 MPH for the first time ever (otherwise >24MPH).

But can't thinkof an explanation except if it has trouble deciding what the gas level is. Or does it est. mileage based upon amount it thinks it "ordered" to cylinders?

Let's hope not, on a test drive, I was really pushing it and the computer read 15 mpg!

Based on the manual, I don't think we can rely on the Average MPG figures from the Navi Trip computer to be accurate.

I just completed a 370 mile trip though some mountains back from the folks house.... got 37 MPG. I averaged a little under 65 MPH, so I wasn't travelling at a really high speed, but there were hills curves, and small town with 25 MPH speed limits, so I wan't going at a constant speed either. Everytime I have taken the trip, the milage has improved as the engine is loosening up. I believe the first time I took this route when the TSX was a month old and I got 31. The second time, it was 35 MPG. And now 37 MPG. I frequently made the same trip in my 96 Integra LS and never broke 34. And in the TSX my head isn't ringing after a 6 hour trip.
