it's very bass-y, i think it follows the same EQ settings as you have set for your stereo...

What kind of phone do you have? I had a Sony Ericcson T616 that always sounded distorted when someone spoke loudly even when I would turn down the volume. I bought a Razr V3 and it went away.

I have an 06 tl and I have the same problem. It drives me crazy! I even went to the dealer and had them replace a couple of the speakers but it still does it. I have an iphone 3G and they seem to think thats the problem. Does anyone have any solutions?

Thanks!

Sounds fine with my Blackberry. Depending on who I'm talking to, I have the volume at anywhere from 15 - 25.

We had the RAZR from Alltel since 2006 and it sounded OK. I really wasn’t worth using the hands free because it only sounded OK. We stopped using the hands free after about six months.

We switched to the iPhone 3GS and updated the software on the phone to v3.1.2. I could not get the phone to pair properly using v3.1 iPhone software. The iPhone sounds very loud/clear over the speakers. The person calling does not hear the road noise as much compared to the RAZR.

I also have a Blackberry 8350i from work and it sounds pretty good on the hands-free. It may just be the Bluetooth module on the phone?

Did you double check the hands free list to make sure you phone is on it:

I've used a RAZR for the past few years, and now am using a Chocolate3, and have been pretty happy with the sound coming from the speakers. I usually have the volume anywher between 12 and 18 for HFL.
