It's been a while since I've posted something, but I've been lurking around reading posts here and there, anyway...
Last night I spent the night with my girlfriend at her place in Philly. She lives on Drexel's campus in University City. I park my car about a block away from her place on the street. I go out there this morning find that someone has kicked...that's right kicked a HUGE dent into my car's rear passenger side door.
The dent is right under the window near where the lock is located. I also noticed that he must have kicked it more than once because my sideview mirror is collapsed (thank God for collapsing sideview mirrors) with a boot print on it.
I look inside the rear passenger side of the car and the paneling behind the dent has been forced back by the impact of this guys shoe.
What the hell possessed someone to do this to my beautiful car?!?!?!? Things can only get better from here, I hope it doesn't cost too much to get fixed.

Claim it on your insurance.
It's the kind of deal that can cost you over a grand if you DIY.

I would never drive a nice car to a college campus especially if I'm an outsider. I can understand though if that's your only means of transportation, so that sucks. It could be someone who...ummm...likes your gf...it is college so you never know...
Littering and.....
It was probably some drunk asshat. When I was in college, I lived in the "student ghetto" as we liked to call it. I had one person run across the hood of my civic with timberlands on and another person just decided to rip my passenger side mirror off.

To be honest it probably is someone who is jealous of my blessings. As to driving a nice car to a college campus, there isn't much I can do about that I have to see my girl and she doesn't have a car to come see me. Oh well this is just gonna get claimed....just not looking foward to my $250 deductible.

Quattro in.....
That sucks man. Hope it doesn't take to long to get fixed. Since you have to go park at that college to see your girl, you might want to look for a better parking spot next time. (Don't park on streets or lots near the local college bars, to avoid all the drunks).
Bad thing is she lives no where near any bars or places that serve liquor...she does live near the dorms though and thats usually where the drunks come back to sleep!
As a plus they will probably wax and wash the car after the body work is done....i did need to get an extra coat on for the Spring...

yea since my roomate and i had to share 1 spot in a parking garage sometimes i would have to park on the street. one time i go to leave and my passenger mirror is snapped off. wow i wanted to punch something. i lived in isla vista where theres like 10000 drunk idiots walking around causing trouble. every weekend there were so many cars that got vandalized by stupid ass freshman walking home to the dorms. lol one time this guy at a party next door decides to sit on the hood of my car with his feet on the bumper and ass on the hood hugging his girlfriend and i happened to be on my balcony sorta buzzed. It was the worst timing for him as i wasn't in the best mood and i just started screaming and yelling haha and his gf started to look really scared then they ran off. good thing i dont have a tsx yet or i would have for sure hurt him.

one time i was fortunate to catch a guy trying to key my car and knock of my side mirror. I ran up behind that asshole and beat the shit out of him. I hate people who are jealous of other people's possessions and belongings.

If someone sat on my car and I caught them, I'd hit the panic button and hopefully scare them shitless...Quote:
I wish I was just walking up when this guy was doing this to my car. It wouldn't have been pretty.Originally Posted by Brennan

Drexel is a great school, and the immediate neighborhood is rather pricey (Powellton Villiage, as it is called) but there are several massive slums immediately north of Powellton Villiage and, of course, West Philadelphia looms to the west. There is a fair amount of gratuitous "walkthrough" violence that occurs at both Drexel and Penn, frankly, which drives the schools a bit nuts. Originally Posted by VTECLuvaLuva

Best effort to mitigate it is to find a place that is well lit and well trafficked. If you can afford it, park it at the 30th Street train station, in a secured parking lot. Unlikely to sustain casual violence there, but it will cost, and you then have to walk a few blocks to the campus. Avoid the streets on the very eastern edge of Powellton Villiage, running right next to the train tracks are not very well policed, although there is some new development going on there. I personally would not park on Lancaster Avenue or to the south - And, it goes without saying to avoid parking next to frat row or any of the frat houses, because the other possibility is a drunken fratboy. Another choice is to park your car at one of the parking lots surrounding the NJ High-speed line, take that to CC Philly, transfer to SEPTA, and end up at 30th Street station. The third alternative is to park, not on the Drexel campus, but in Powellton Villiage, at , for example, 36th and Hamilton or Baring, well within this enclave. There is a fair amount of street parking, and a fairly vigilant resident population there.

I appreciate the tips but I went to DU for 5 years and have been out for 2 years and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened. I was parked next to Buckley Green right next door to Calhoun Hall when it happened. And as you probably know there are lights all throughout that area. It's probably one of the most well lit places on campus. I may just take that thrid option though and park in Powelton Village I doubt anyone there would care to take out my car.

Didn't realize you knew the area as well as you do..... so the PV parking might be the best shot. It's a pretty well-defined neighborhood, folks tend to be "aware" of what is going on. Dividing line, of course, is Spring Garden Street........Originally Posted by VTECLuvaLuva

I used to park on or near the campus decades ago, before Powellton got so pricey, and there was random occassional violence then. The folks in the neighborhood attributed it equally to drunken frat boys or the walkthrough folks from the north.
Why the fuck are people such jealous assholes?

, Probably was someone that was drunk.
