Got pulled over by the cops tonight
Tonight, I was driving home from Boston. I was on Rt. 93 (for those from MA) and keeping up with the traffic doing about 70-75. A silver 4Runner was weaving in and out of traffic and really pushing the limits of the car. There was an opening ahead of me and he got in front of me and booted it. Suddenly, he jammed on his brakes but kept on going.
Then, I see blue lights go on behind me so I figure he is going after the 4Runner but soon realize he is going after me. I pull over, turn on the dome lights in the car and put my hands on the steering wheel. The officer walks up to the window and is very nice. He asks if I knew how fast I was going and said I honestly thought I was only going 75. He says he clocked me doing 84. I replied that I think he might have gotten the 4Runner who was head of me and he said "Well I might have but I only grabbed you becasue your headlights stood out to me and I could tell it was a new, sporty car."
He was very nice and let me go without even a written warning telling me to just keep safe. Are our headlights THAT bright that they attract cops to pull us over?

I got pulled over last night probably because of my flashy headlights too. I was driving in a very ghetto neighbourhood in Hamilton, Ontario and the cop pulled me over to check the tint on my windows. His excuse was that "I couldn't see you inside the car". I provided him ACURA's paper about the tint being a legal 25% and he let me go, but I'm almost positive that he pulled me over because my lights stood out more than they should have.
In such neighbourhoods, cops look for any excuse to pull you over. I shouldn't have gone there.

I actually also got pulled over tonight for going the wrong way down a one way street. I was in the process of parking, and a cop pulled up next to me and motioned to roll down my window.
He then explained the large no right turn sign I missed (which I later did see when I was going back home) and the $172 fine he could give me, but let me off after I kept apologizing profusely. It was a pretty vacant and not heavily traveled at all street, so I think that might have played a factor. First time ever being pulled over in 7 years of driving, and it scared the crap out of me.

yes our HIDs loook hawt, they look like 2 bright, focused points. i was actually surprised to see my headlights from afar when the valet service was bringing my car back at a club (forced valet, i hate ppl driving my car)

yes HIDs in general are bright. when i am driving on deserted roads outside of the city, i can see how bright the ground is compared to regular bulbs...wow!
you can tell it's HIDs from far away b/c you can see two bright purple spots and then bright lights from the cars as they approach. PA trooper pulled me over once on Rte 81 b/c he thought i was riding on the high beams. i'm never going back to regular bulbs!!

The speed limit on that road is 65 but if you're doing 65, you better be all the way to the right in the slow lane. I was keeping with traffic at 75. I'm so glad he was a nice guy because I leave for college tomorrow and it would have SUCKED to deal with the court dates and such that go along with a ticket.

I was driving home last Saturday night from a small town up north. For a good 60km of journey, there were no street lights. It was completely dark and was raining. I tried using the hi-beam but it didn't make that much difference in terms of how far ahead I could see. I just used the xenon low beam all the way.

just some advice...when passing a pig on the highway (with his radar on), it is much safer for you not to break. I have been told that state troopers receive special training for how to pick out cars in multiple lane highway traffic.
If there are 4 cars passing the pig, his radar will automatically go to the car who brakes (hence him seeing your brake lights). Whether or not you believe this, it has worked for me numerous times in the past. Although most of us have probably seen a cop pull more than one car over for speeding at the same time, it would be impossible for a cop to radar more than one car at the same time...this ticket could definetly be fought.
you got lucky...feel free to drive fast, but be smart and the pigs will stay away.

going 75miles is still in the safe zone in the US? In Canada 119km/h is the max you can go without getting a ticket.
I was driving back from lake George last week and was really curious to know what the max speed limit i can go without getting a ticket.

I would hate getting pulled over as much as anyone, but calling them pigs just because you don't think rules/laws apply to you...easy there, killer.

I would think you being older than 16, you would realize age doesn't necessarily imply one's regard for the police...the majority of sixteen year olds probably do not respect police, as do many adults, but why?
Why is it okay for police to disobey the majority of the traffic laws they themselves enforce? How many times have you been tailgated by a police officer when you are in fact driving safely and at the appropriate speed limit? This is just one of the reasons why police can be pigs and has nothing to do with what laws/rules apply to me and how frequently I may get pulled over...

As someone said, don't ever use your brake lights as it just tells 'em you're guilty. Example, I was in Sacramento last year on business and decided to rent a car and hop down to San Francisco and the bay area. Well I forget the main highway that leads there but if I remember right the speed limit there was 55 or 60 at most. Well, I was pushing 90 and sometimes 100 - hey it's a rental right?
Well anyway, I didn't realize it but I must've passed some ghost car cuz next thing I knew, there were blue & whites flashing a few cars behind. Well I let off the gas immediately (couldn't downshift cuz it was an automatic.) So I just kinda coasted for a bit. Luckily there was another car behind me, between the cop and I and I just changed lanes and he pulled over the poor bugger behind.
Now I feel shitty for that guy getting the rap but as I was visiting from Canada I wasn't too interested in getting a ticket for doing almost 2ce the speed limit. Anyway, moral of the story is, I never touched the brakes and I made off like a bandit! 'nuff said.
