IS this a good deal?

Aighty...I contacted a few Acura dealerships around my area (Philadelphia) and got a few price quotes over emails. The best one sooo far is from Sussman Acura for a

Meteor Silver non-Navi TSX

for $24,999 + TAX + TAGS.

Should I ask for anything else?

Is this a good deal?

Thanks in advance....

I think that is a pretty decent deal .. no?

My family was just quoted $25,500 but that was just an initial quote.. seeing a few dealers quotes and it will be knocked down a bit but I think thats very respectful... good luck in your purchase

It is discounted because the '05s come out in October, and they are starting to dump last years model. Kind of like an unadvertised version of the Honda Clearance. Good way to save money, if you're into that.

not bad .....hard to find the right color combo being so late in the model year....
my advice is dont mention tags/tax in the beginning...but don't be decieved and have to pay it on top of everything later.

Well, seeing that the invoice for a non-navi is 24,691, I'd say getting a car for $308 over invoice is a good deal. Congrats!

NJtsx, what is the deception behind paying tax and tags?? Those usually arent negoitable.

You probably are not going to do much better than that. I bet by next Wednesday the price might go up.

I mean.....they might hit you with tax and tags on top of everything else after a deal is negotiated....but that is a good deal

What do you mean might? They always will - the dealer has no control over that.

The only sneaky thing they might do is charge you a fee that is not required but they tell you it is.

The best way to avoid any and all other expenses besides the price of the car is to tell the dealer that you will take care of all of those issues and drive off with temp tags. Actually this is a good way to put off a sizeable payment - the amount and the time delay depends on the state.

You dont really have a choice there chief. Maybe theres an optional sales tax where you come from?

Watch out for those fees. The only fees you have to pay for are tax, title and license.

Many times when I talk to a dealer, when they give me the price, it already has TT&L in it. Maybe that is what NJtsx was talking about.
I always negotiate pricing w/ TT&L. Always work drive out prices, and you will know exactly how much you are paying for the car, at least prior to financing. Too many go into buying a car w/ a payment in mind...worst thing you can do!
When getting my RSX-S last month, I got the car w/ TT&L at 500 over invoice. Granted I had a trade, but the difference was still 11K, so somebody, not me, ate that cost!

Sounds pretty good.

But before you make your decision, check out the 2005 TSX thread.

The only thing that should ever change in the total price is the price of the car - the dealer can't do anything about the other stuff. If you compare two dealers in different states you need to have the price of the car without all of the other tack on charges to compare apples-apples.

One easy way to ask for this is, is to tell the dealer you are exporting the car.

Another thing - has anyone ever wondered or checked to see that the title, tag and reg fees you are paying at the dealer are actually what DMV charges? It could very well be that the dealer marks up the charges for the "convenience" of doing it for you. They could even fudge the tax due on the car (how would you know?). The only way to know for sure is to do it yourself.

Heh...well, that explains everything then...

Sorry, but tax is not negotiable. Only the price of the car. If you can negotiate the price of the car, and THEN say "hey, knock off a couple 100 more off the price of the car to offset the tax", you still are just paying less for the car. You will still be charged the full amount for the tax.

Dont know how to say this any other way. There are no suprises with tax, its a constant. Negotiate the price of the car, add your tax title, theres your out the door price.

There might not be sales tax but there's no free lunch - the state gov'ts must get their taxes somehow.
