i feel your pain...i went on autogeek and bought SIX ParkSmart stick-on door guards to protect my brand new '05 tsx as well. cost $15 each. But i am returning them because i think they might provoke ppl to truly damage the car.

however, the 2nd solution i am looking for is on ebay. search for "magnetic sheet" . basically its 50 feet roll of magnetic sheet and its used for car door signs.... i'm thinking of doing this instead...and perhaps getting it painted satin silver to match the car.....

you ever see cars with the signs "21st century" or "Insurance...group" ...i believe those signs are just a huge piece of magnet...just like refrigerator magnets....

they SHOULD prevent dents and scratches and paints.

If you want it done right, take it too a body shop. It will cost you but they will to the best job. They will have to repaint the entire panel the dent occured on. The cheap way out would be to find a dent guy that pops dents out.

You don't have to go to a bodyshop. Check your phone book for Paintless dent removal. It'll cost around $100 many places even less and you'll never know it was there.

Where's the dent?

If it's the door they'll just spread it apart a little and stick rods inside to work it out. You'll never know it was there. A lot of the places are mobil and will come to your work or home to do it.

paintless dent removal.

i'm sure there are specialty shops that cater to this particular type of body work in your area.

Depending on where it is they may just pull down the wheel well plastic to get to it then.

Well there are worse things in life, like losing your house or the French...

I agree. You should take it to a paintless dent removal place, ALTHOUGH, they can't do everything. After the stupid hailstorm in friggin MILTON, FL came in late March of 2005, my Accord got damaged. I tried paintless dent repair, but there were reinforcing beams behind the dent and PDR could not be used. I was pissed, but they matched the paint pretty well.

This will cause more damage than it will prevent. Dust and road grit from driving will be stuck to the body from either static electricity or splashes. The magnet will push this grit into your paint. Plus on removal and placement of the magnets, you'll always be slightly sliding them on the surface, which will drag the grit.

Eventually you'll wear in some real scratches from these things.

Just go get a Saturn Ion with plastic body panels.

Off the topic a little, but I've heard that the TL has dent resistant door panels. Is that true?

I actually dented all my doors and fenders so that I would never come out to see a pristine panel dented in.

It works great, now I'm NEVER aggravated by the inconsideration of others!

Condolences. I've had a couple dents removed on my TL by the dent removal people at a $100 a crack and it worked perfectly, I can't see where the dents where. Depends where they're situated but it usually works pretty well.

What a PO.

Someone dent my door last year and even the paint was cracked! End up cost me $700 Cdn to fix it. If there is no paint crack, you better try those paintless dent removal. If they can't fix it, then go for a quality bodyshop that not going to repaint your whole panel(even PWP). Skillful bodyshop will only paint on that spot only and will fade out the paint to match the rest of the area. They will try to reduce the painted area as small as possible. Repaint will drop your car value and dealer and bodyshop is able to find it out very easily.

Try paintless dent removal. Often times depending on the dent, they can get it out and you wont even be able to find where it was.

I highly recommend not doing this. My sister was a realtor for quite some time and she used to have one of those magnetic signs on her car. She left it on for like two months in the summer and when she took it out, the clear coat on the paint had become all whitish and was literally peeling off...

Plus, whatever you do to keep bastards from denting you car will more likely attract more bastards. Like those people who park their car sideways across two spots so that no one will park next to them.... They are just asking for trouble.

I was under the impression that he was talking about just leaving it there when he parked and taking them up when he drove off. ALtohugh that's not a bright idea either because you will most likely get the swirlmark like scratches on the doors because they aren't clean everytime you take them off and put them on.
