Getting a brand new center console

My non-Navi center console light bulb suddently stop working 2 weeks ago. That includes the Audio and the AC control. However, everything still function properly but I just can not read (very difficult to read without backlight) from the display.

First, I thought it's just the fuse (I was suspecting that since the whole audio system should stop working). Checked all the fuses and non were burned.

Finally took it to Acura dealer and checked for the whole day, they call me and ask me to take my car back since they can not fix it in the same day. They told me they have to order a brand new center console including the AC control panel for me.

Hehehe.... a brand new unit after 20,000km on my ride.

The only thing I can think of is the LED dome bulb I changed which burned out 1 week before the backlight was gone. So, if you have a dome LED bulb, it's probably a good idea to take them out.

This is a known problem with TSXs - many center units on backorder from Japan. Your wait could be in excess of 6 weeks from what I have been reading here. Good luck.

Hahaha.... never pay attention to the "Problem and Repair" section. Never realize this is a known problem. Sorry then.

yap, it's quite annoying without the light.

I just got call from the dealer. They told me the new unit is here already. I must be lucky, it's only been 3 days.

so has Acura diagnosed what the cause is ??? does replacing the dome lights have anything
to do with this problem ???

I am waiting for the LEDs from superbrightled.com and this message is

The problem is a bad part that is loose on the back of the IC board in the console. The dealer cannot access the bad part and has to chnage the entire console. Changing the lights inside the car has nothing to do with this problem; however, I'm sure the dealer will try to pick a fight with you if you show up with a dead $4,000 console (NAVI/stereo model) and lots of blinking lights inside the car.

Make sure you set up a fuse for all the LEDs you add to the car.

Mine finally went, only 37,911 kms...ya I know, I don't drive it much...

Has anyone who posted in the last thread have the problem re-occur? BTW, I've got an 04 TSX non-nav. Purchased in June 3 03...this happened on my baby's 3rd birthday.

i was hoping that mine would "die" so I could get a new console that would be able to accomodate an iPod...I have a 2004...unfortunately, I just bought one of the iPod links so I guess that'll have to do
