Angry Garbage OTD Price...

So I am supposed to be getting the "Friends and Family" discount at the local Acura dealership that just received my car and these clowns start out at $29,964 OTD!! Wow, that is a fantastic $1100 discount off of the MSRP! I have not gone in to talk price with them yet...I just e-mailed a bunch of other dealerships in NC for their rates. How annoying...but it's never easy when it comes down to money and financing.

Well 29,964 OTD is not bad at all! You figrue the MSRP is like $32,000+$2,560(8%tax)=$34,560. Looks like your getting a good deal! Remeber that $29,964 is quoted as OUT THE DOOR! RIGHT? There was a guy that looked for like a full month and talked to several dealerships and argued for weeks and the best he got was $29,460 out the door. If you want to fight and bicker for another month for $500, more power to you.

Well... if that's for a Navi and your sales tax is 6% or 7% then that's a pretty good deal.
You need to be more specific. Navi? non navi? sales tax %? What other fees are there?

Like i said, it's a decent price if it's 6 or 7 % sales tax + a $300 doc fee.

Curious what kind of discount the F&F thing is.

I had a company-associated discount last year and the OTD for navi + fogs + trunk + locks + muds was 29,010. I'm also in NC, by the way.

Tell them the price has to be 29k, or you'll be going after THEIR friends and family.

Well... all dealers charge it. And pretty much refuse to take it off. If you ask them to get rid of the doc fee upfront, all they'll do is put it right back into the price of the car.

I think you need to go to this dealership and buy your car there!! I think it would be worth almost $900 difference.

I'm afraid you've been duped. All dealers do not charge a doc fee. Chalk me up as another buyer who was not charged a doc fee.

Maybe someone should start a poll?

I have no idea. I guess it's a different market in the southeast particularly Georgia. I've gone through all of the "owners sign in" pricing and etc...
I even teamed up with 2 other members here to buy TSX's as a group buy. Dealers here simply wont drop off MSRP that much especially with TSX's where they can't keep them in stock. Typically, i know you can go to different dealers and they'll all try to undercut each other. If i walked into another dealer with an initial quote elsewhere, then they'll just say "sorry, we can't do any better. We dont blame you if you buy elsewhere".
And i'm serious too, there was even one dealer who wouldn't come close, they only took like $200 off MSRP.

Did you go to Hendrick?

They'll let you walk. They can sell the car to someone else. Hendrick is the only dealership within a 90 mile radius of Charlotte. They don't care. They can probably sell it for sticker.

They let me walk until I called Kevin back and told him $250 bucks was stupid not to sell me the car....we worked it out

I got them to go down to $26192 w/o Nav (with wheel locks).

My out the door was $27400. I don't think it was a bad deal, I couldn't wait since my car broke down

You may want to check the ones in Greenville South Carolina and McDaniels in Columbia...

Sorry for getting back so late...the car is an '05 with Navi. Here is the itemized break-down verbatim according to the dealership:

"Here are the numbers:

MSRP: $29,760

Discount: <$1,100>

Tax: 3% $859.80

Doc: $389

Tag: $56

Total: $29964.80

Just to let you know the current TMV (True Market Value) which is what others are buying this car for is $725."

Funny because then another dealer comes around and offers the exact same car for $29,197 (about $800 less) WITHOUT a F&F discount. The only downfall to this dealer is I would have to drive 2 hours to get this car. I know that the local one is going to pull out something about service and free loaners being just a stone's throw away...well that means to me considering I will probably be moving in about a year. Let the haggling begin. <-- dealer (hopefully)

Did it come with an engine and four wheels? Seriously I thought you were in DE where there's no sales tax, but $27,760 OTD for a navi is ridiculous.. I'm in PA and got $29,300 OTD - $400 trade-in.. So I guess $28,900 OTD..

Just to add my 2 cents -

I went in and told them I would take the car right now if they met my price ($28k AT with Navigation)

They did, and so I did. That was about a year ago though, the TSX did not cast that big a shadow back then.

I think the $27,760 was the price of the the car before taxes and tags. $27,760 OTD (on the dashboard)

Wow. I'm not sure that's possible.

OTD - as in out the door ? with Navi?

I thought I had done well with:

27,250 + TTL = 28,500 out the door, off the lot.

6 speed MT with navi + splash guards, floor mats, wheel locks, pin stripe, and trunk liner.

Black/Parchment.

27,260 OTD for navi is definitely hard to believe. That kind of offer will get you laughed at in most places.
