Whats a fair price?

Hey guys my GF wants to buy a 2004 TSX w/o navi. Blk on Blk with spoiler, 6spd.

Well I am here in hawaii and and guess what there is only one acura dealer in Hawaii called Pleuger Acura. Well she went there by herself the other day with out me and tetst drove the car and loved it and wanted it. Well She called me at home and I looked up the price of the car online at edmunds.com and did some research on the price. I have read in here that guys are getting offers from dealers in the mainland for a TSX with navi for under 30 grand. Well she got me on the phone and asked the salesman whats price are we looking at and told me that the lowest he can go is 30,139 and out the door with tax and lic it come out to be 31,939.05. I told the salesman that i was looking at edmunds.com and the msrp i was looking at there was 27,035 and the true market value was 26,415. I told him if he could lower the price of the car and he told me nope and that info on the web is full of crap and not true so we got into an argument from there aon why would any one post false info. Than I asked him why? was it because youguys kow that no one else sells acuras in hawaii? than he told me that to go find a dealer in hawaii that would sell it o me cheaper than that price and I told him come on now on now im not dumb. I told him that I would call dealer in cali or Oregan and he told me that no dealer in the world would sell it to me cheaper than that price he was giving me plus i would have to pay the shipping and i told him shipping to to hawaii is only 900 bucks. well some how he got my GF before she left to sign papers for a lease on the car and he made her feel and told he that she was taking to much of his time and he had to make his qouta and made he feel like she wasted his time so she signed the papers and was told to think it over with me. Boy was i pissed cause I told her to leave and walk out cause he didnt wana nogotiate with me on the price.

Can any one tell me how much they paid for there cars or if there is any dealer in Cali or oregan willin to work with me and ship this car to hawaii plus give me a great deal I be more than will to give you my business and and spead the word that Pluegur Acura is a rip off and I know where and How you can get a way better deal on any acura.

Please help?

I paid 28700 (excluding sales tax, fees).

I have a carbon gray/auto/w navi/rear spoiler/wheel locks/tinted windows.

I purchased the vehicle in Phoenix.

The out the door cost of a TSX appears to have a dependency upon the location you are in. I live in MA and it seems like the range of difference in out the door prices have been between approx 500-1800$ off msrp (just an estimation). When viewing deals people have gotten in California however, people don't get as good deals since the demand is higher and the inventory doesn't support the demand that much.

I wouldn't doubt that in Hawaii that the Acura dealers would be jerks there and make you pay even more than MSRP for a TSX. There probably isn't many Acura dealers in Hawaii and not many TSX's available to support the consumer demand. Dealer's want to make as much money as they can, and if they are getting people from Hawaii to buy a TSX over MSRP price, then they will be stubborn on their prices. They probably think why would they sell you a TSX for less than MSRP if they could wait a week or two for some rich guy who will buy the car for more.

Basically location has an effect on the out the door price.

I'm here in San Diego, CA, and I got my CG 5AT TSX with NAVI for
$27,750. I can recommend you my dealer if you like. I would never deal with someone like the person you had to negotiate with. You can post your e-mail and I will give you the information if you like. Out the door, that is $30,180 - even less than your quote, but this one comes with NAVI. So obviously you can get a free NAVI, out the door for $30, or without NAVI as you requested for probably $28 out the door. Add on your $900 shipping for less then $29 out the door.

i paid right at 29,500 for my 6sp w/ navi, but 6,000 miles later i had it appraised by acura and they would only give me a little under 22,800 for it. Talk about taking a huge loss, i've only had it a month and a half....doh!

You can get one for under 26K in Kansas City. Probably too far for you but thought I would offer my 2 cents.

Aloha and thanks guys!!! But I went back and tried to see if if they would budge on the price by telling them that I called the mainland and those dealer were more than willing ot worka better deal for me at 27,000 and even ship the car. So after I got them to go down to 28,000 with a 7 year extened warranty and I took the car!

A little legwork (or keyboard work) never hurt anyone and you saved a few $$. Congratulations on the new car. Post some pics (with a beautiful Hawaiian beach in the background).

I just bought mine in northern VA a couple weeks ago---$25,750 for a black/black non-navi. The dealer in Hawaii is insane--Edmunds is very well respected and if you do the TMV on the car based on your zip code, it will tell you what people have been paying for the car. Good luck!

I'm glad you finally got your car, I am puzzled why you didn't take the time to contact me for an appointment. I was the one who sent Lani the brochure and had kept her posted on the car over the previous 10 months with several e-mails. I just wish I had the chance to help you guys.

Please accept my apology, i feel really bad about this, and wish i could redo what i did. Im so sorry please dont be mad.

Re: Colin

Lani,

Don't worry, because you asked for me, it qualified for partial credit. I'm just disappointed for you and your experience. Getting a new car should be a happy time, and it doesn't sound like aspects of your transaction were as you would have liked. Don't worry, all is forgotten once you've got a few miles on the car and you're enjoying the driving. Remember to check the oil at every fill up, cause the K24C engine can use a bit of oil as it breaks in. Also be careful with your shifting, I don't want to see you here service department with a hole in the engine and bent valves because you missed a shift!

I've been knocking around this forum since the very beginning and although I don't post on the board daily, I do check it regularly.

P.S. The microphone looking thing by the steering wheel houses the thermometer for the climate controlled A/C.

I paid 27,643 + tax, tags, title...yielding a total of 28,850.63 out the door. From all the dealers I talked to Northern VA, that was a "good" deal. Given the fact that the car is in demand, they had to have mine brought up from the Chesapeake area, and that the MSRP sits at 29,035. So, I was okay with about 1,400 off the car.

It's 5AT with Navi, CG on Ebony

Hey Chuck091279 and NBP 04 in NOVA,

Need help. Can you both tell me where in Northern VA you got your TSX from?
what dealer?
and if you don't mind, who was your salesperson?

I am moving to N. VA this month and want to get my TSX within the next two weeks. I would really appreciate this info. I will be glad to let them know you referred me to them, hopefully there is a referral payout for your guys.

Thanks.

Only comment on your post is it is meaningless to me.
OTD amount is meaningless except to you cause you know ALL about what that covers.

Just the base car price + add-ons plz.

CG @ 3 miles + Nav + all-weather mats = USD 27,150

I got a quote recently and I wanted to know what you guys thought of it. They quoted me 25,100 - 25,500 (based on availability? That's what they said) for an ABP/Navi with:
Rear Wing Spoiler
Fog Lights
Front Under Body Spoiler
Side Under Body Spoiler
Rear Under Body Spoiler
Door Visors

Now, I gave them my trade-in info and I think they're giving me around 7,000 for it. So that puts it at 32,100 - 32,500. Seems a little high from what you guys are saying, but I have a lot of accessories.

And before anyone says anything... I like the wing spoiler better than lip. I'm also set on getting the door visors, even though I know some people don't like them.

I'm am literally the opposite of mechanically inclined. I'm not confident enough that I won't do something to my brand new $30k car. If it was a beater, maybe. But not this. I'll just have to spend the money I guess. How does the quote sound, though?

If you think about it, it should almost be cheaper in Hawaii, because you're so much closer to Japan than the rest of us. I know this is not how it works though...

The only thing that works for is for food from Japan. I wish it applied to everything from Japan! Especially electronics.

What dealer was that? Did it inlcude the destination charge? Was that the OTD price? I'm in the St. Louis, but I've got family in KC so buying the car there wouldn't be a big deal at all.

Add-ons

I am in the market for the TSX and I have found some good ways to get a good deal. I am looking for a 6 spd, w/nav and have gotten dealers down to $26,900. I think this is pretty good. All I am doing is bouncing back and forth with bids, and telling each other what the other is offerring. It is working for me so far.

A lot of you is talking about getting extras. Can you ask for an extended warrenty on top of a good selling price for the car? I would love an extended warranty with my tsx. Also, they are giving me horrible prices on trade ins. I think the only way to go with that route is to sell your car for yourself. I think that I can get anywhere from 2-5k more with selling it on my own for my used accord.

Let me know what anyone thinks about add-ons to deals.

My mom just bought her TSX, and they gave her almost what the Blue Book value was on her Trade. She just told them, "This is what I'll pay a month. Make it work." And they did. The price they quoted her for the 7yr/100,000 mile extended warranty was $1,300 and they said she can add it later. I believe there was another thread talking about if the warranty was worth it, and I think the consesus was that it was worth it.

Probably about the WORST thing you can do when buying a car. Never say "This is what I want to pay a month, work it out." never...

That's funny. She got quotes from other dealers and the one she bought it from beat them all. Plus, she got the best interest rate possible and forced them up $2,000 on the trade-in. Worked for her. They basically paid her tade-in off.
