Friend told me I should've gotten Accord coupe V6 instead of TSX

Tonight he rode in my TSX and he owns a 350Z. He told me that why didn't I just get the Accord V6 coupe instead with 240hp and it's $4K cheaper too? I told him well, the Accord V6 coupe is nice, but I wanted to try Acura this time around since I've driven 2 Accords in the past, plus the TSX has a better overall package. Any other reasons why the TSX was better to buy than the Accord V6 coupe?

As a 350Z owner he should appreciate HANDLING. And yeah ... styling (although coupe is better than the sedan which looks like arse)

Oh yeah ... another point ... do a lot of folks cross shop coupes and sedans? Just not sure if I was in the market for a sedan that a coupe would suffice. (I know it would not have when I shopped for the TSX and pretty much EVERY previous car I have owned was a couple ... aside from the G35 sedan I had for a year).

I'd have to agree with those above...pay the extra money for a good looking car rather than an ugly piece of shit.....
How many people turn their heads to look at an Accord....Now ask the same question, but with the TSX.....enough said!

yeah ur right maybe i can try his 350Z and go downtown in that thing, pick up some ladies, but u know u got me thinking, i can pick up 3 more ladies in the TSX than in his 350Z! :P

also, doesn't the Z get crappy gas mileage?

yeah ur right the Accord coupe is not nice looking especially in the front, but the rear is alright. still like the prev gen Accord coupe more.

This has been discussed many times, here are my reasons ...

1/ Better looking
2/ Better handling
3/ More fun to drive
4/ VSA
5/ HID
6/ Made in Japan
7/ Better interior
8/ Better chassis / better feel
9/ Less common

There's probably more, but thats all I can think of right now.

Yep, Marysville OH same with the TL. The Civic Sedan, Acura EL, Odyssey, MDX and Pilot are made in Alliston Ontario. The Civic Sedan is also produced in East Liberty along side the Element, Civic GX, and Civic Coupe.

Why would you say that? If Honda wanted cheap labour it would make more sense to do what VW does and assemble the cars in Mexico.

do you see yourself driving in an accord after driving your TSX? it would be night and day difference.

your friend is just jealous cause he can't fit jack in his 350z and the interior is ugly

04EuroAccordTSX-- The TSX sold in the US is the Accord over in Japan...Had Honda wanted it to have been an Accord here too, it would have been.
In past, the Japanese Honda Inspire was the US Acura CL here, now the Japanese Honda Inspire is the US Honda Accord, and vise versa now making a name as the US Acura TSX........Make sense?!
If you look at the shape of the new US Accords, you'll see the styling kinda....kinda.....resembles the old Acura CL, and the TSX....well, it looks like a damn Accord!....

Man, that 350 guy's an idiot.

Here's why.

Say for example you bought a TL and someone asked "why didn't you buy the WRX STi?" then said "It's 3k cheaper and has 30 more hp".

It just doesn't make sense.

Most North American Hondas/Acuras are made in Marysville, Ohio.

Place of manufacture seems to mean less than the design for manufacture (simplicity and idiot-proof-ness, read CLIPS) and quality control. The Japanese have been better at this than the rest of the world for decades.

This explains why the build quality of American-built Japanese cars is better than that of American cars despite the same UAW boneheads building them.**

**There is another theory that the UAW at Detroit (GM, FMC, DCM) plants is stronger and the tenure of lousy employees stronger than at the newer, Japanese and European plants, thus partially accounting for improved build quality.

wow...i cant beleive i actually read this entire BULLSHIT thread!

guys, as the owner of both cars, the tsx and a v6 coupe.......

let me point out some stuff here, and THIS IS FACT, so, flame away flamers:

1. the accord coupe is made in japan, and assembled in ohio.
2. THE TSX IS A ACCORD!!! omfg, how many times have we discussed this?
3. the accord and tsx have the same interior! NO DIFFEENCE!!
4. i dont mind not haveing a back seet that is "comftorable" because i am never in the abck seat! i have a bed for sex, and a drivers seat for my ass! a back seat!
5. comparing a tl with a sti is like NIGHT AND DAY! come on! maybe a tl compared to a g-35 is more comparable! BUT NOT A DAMN STI!!! thats like comparing a civic to a chevy full size truck! come on!!
6. 15-20 years, all in japan? ya right, more like 5 years!
7. the coupe is ALOT more fun to drive than the tsx, sorry to break it to you.
8. the tsx gets more stares, and is lower on the crime list......true, and i miss all the stares i got from it. when i bought my tsx, i was the first in arizona with it and i loved it. everytime i see a stock one, i laugh and think to myself......"chumps, they dont know what there missing"

look guys, some of you knwo me, some dont. iw ent through alot with my tsx and i still have MAD love for her......BUT the coupe, IMO, is a better all around car IF YOUR looking for performance/luxury/handling, but only the v6 coupe. all other american accords blow ass, imo, mainly the sedan accord....looks like poop on a stick!

this is just my opion, but, i know your all gona flame, so bring your best shit!

It shares a name yes, but its a different car (size, chassis, suspension, etc). the euro accord and american accord are not the same car.

time for a pair of glasses

4. i dont mind not haveing a back seet that is "comftorable" because i am never in the abck seat! i have a bed for sex, and a drivers seat for my ass! a back seat!

Exactly. SO advantage TSX. Who needs a bigger accord.

5. comparing a tl with a sti is like NIGHT AND DAY! come on! maybe a tl compared to a g-35 is more comparable! BUT NOT A DAMN STI!!! thats like comparing a civic to a chevy full size truck! come on!!
Ya, kind of an odd comparison. But I think the point made is that just because a car is faster in a straight line, doesnt make it better. There are lots of other factors.

7. the coupe is ALOT more fun to drive than the tsx, sorry to break it to you.
Not according to me. And not according to any magazine review which pretty much all stated how much more fun the TSX is. GO to vtec.net and look at their TSX vs Accord comparison drive. The stated again and again how much fun the TSX was to drive. More fun than the Accord. Other than driving in a straight line from stoplight to stoplight could I see the accord being any fun, and that would get pretty boring after a while.

For someone who claimed to know "THE FACTS", you seem to have alot of incorrect opinion.

But I understand you need to justify your new purchase. I dont blame you.

What you talking about Willis. The Accord interior is nice, but is blown away by the TSX's in layout and quality of materials.

Theres an entire vtec.net test that disagrees with that statement, but hey its subjective and thats you opinion. Just know that a V6 Coupe cannot hang with a TSX in the twisties, but its not always about the twisties.

Of course it does because its a gorgeous car, while the Accord Coupe is not quite as Gorgeous, in fact not even close really.

round 1 *ding ding*

fdl, my facts are coorect.

vtec.net did not test drive a v6-coupe 6 speed.

the tsx is an accord every where else but here & canada.
our accord here is the inspire every where else but here/can.

and, as far as the interoir goes......they are the same! at least the 04 accord coupe is....i dont know about the 03 accord though.
same seats, same sliding armrest, same navi, same 6 speed shifter/boot, same steering wheel.......everything up front is the same!

yes, it is missing the "flash" and "luxury bling" that the tsx has, but, i dont care about haveing a silver peice on my steeringwheel for the controls!

and, im not justafying my purchase, i love my purchase and i am totally happy.

i just want your guys to know the other side of the story here, and not just a byist opion towards the tsx.

just being fair.

Hmm, I'm oretty sure they did. It was definately a coupe, and I dont see why they would have gone with an Auto. (I only have the TSX vids saves and can see for sure its a coupe.) Can anyone verify?

Yes I agree, I'm just saying the NA accord and Euro accord are different cars. But yes they are both labeled "accord".

and, as far as the interoir goes......they are the same! at least the 04 accord coupe is....i dont know about the 03 accord though.

I've only been in a 2003, and there were enough differences in looks and materials for me to notice.

Me neither.

Ya, I was just teasing

For sure. I think the accord is a better "value". I also think for straightline performance it is no question the winner of the two. And it also has more room if you need it. There are advanatges to getting accord. But there are certainly advanatges the TSX has over the accord, which is what this thread was origionally about.

Really?

http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-ar...icle_id=113992

After the plant tour, we drove back to Atlanta and took a short drive in the Accord V6 MT6. More impressions and data will follow, but the powertrain reminded me very much of the CL-S 6spd test we did last year. Only the clutch on the Accord was much better. Why Honda doesn't get more accolades for its V6's is beyond me - they're simply awesome.

I am willing to pay a few K$ for superior styling. I can't stand the Accord look; I would get a Mazda6 before it.

i agree, as far as overall car....its really up to the buyer.
and, the tsx will hold its value better than the accord also!

if i had my choice, and could afford it all i would have a tsx as my daily driver, a bmw m3 for my "toy"

and, probaly a motorcyle for my other toy.

but, comparing the sedan's together......hands down, the tsx is a better car than the accord for a 4 door. however, i will, anyday, take the v6 coupe over the tsx, after driving both. just my opion.

Or just do what Honda does and and depend highly on robots to build the cars. I've had the feeling that there isn't a lot of human labor in our cars. Robots don't require pensions, vacations, lunch hours, sick days or any of that stuff!

BTW, I thought I read that Honda was shifting Odyssey production to their plant in Lincoln, Alabama to free up capacity for the MD-X. Also that the CR-V is built by Honda UK.
