Foglight guards???

Has anyone heard of a aftermarket foglight guard for the TSX? I know several people have used 3M film to prevent cracks. I need to come up with a fix before I take my ride in for its 100k service. At $208 a pop I need to keep this problem frpm happening again. Both lights cracked in less than 6 months. Only problem I have had with this car.

Are you driving in rock storms? I'm at 12K with not a single problem with cracking or wear for that matter. <knock on wood>

you can prevent the material from browning by not turning on your fogs while you're not moving for a while. Mine only browned becuase I decided to leave my fogs on while I took nighttime pics of my car...it browned after about 15 minutes or so...
I'm getting them replaced under warranty sometime soon and I'm not going to leave my fogs on when I'm not moving..ie waiting for someone at the store, etc.

Ah ha,

So I am not alone - just discovered a crack in one of mine the other day (8 months old) . . CRAP!

Do I understand that I have to replace the entire unit? at 208 ($US)? Or just a lense? Curious why this seems to be a problem - I've driven other vehicles with fogs and have never had this happen before. Is it because its glass? Hey, maybe there's a opportunity at an aftermarket product here?

BTW not driving in rock storms, but I do drive my car to/from work on major hi-ways & city streets.

My dealer wants $208 each to replace so I will do it myself. I guess I will try the film fix. Thanks all!

I wish they make a cover for fog lights that are made of hard plastic...kinda like for Beatles... My friend's got those on his wife's Beatle and they're made of the same material as the light lens...nice and hard and no brownage..

My dealer was trying to rip me off as well (charging $30 over Acura's list for just the part!).

Is the fog light lens a curved surface? (Sorry, I can't really tell from the pictures I've found.) If it were flat, I'd recommend you replace the lens with Lexan, which I hear is more durable than glass and also not as prone to discoloration or fading. A lot of 2002-2003 TL owners had a similar problem and you can search on A-TL for the procedure. If the lens is curved though, then I don't have any ideas besides the 3M film or similar clear bra material.

Lexan may still work if the spherical lens can be replaced with a flat one, but not sure if this can be done or if it will change the optics. Sorry I can't be of more help (don't have a set of fogs to refer to), just tossing ideas out there.

My drivers side lamp is cracked, I have put Ricochet film on my passenger lamp and also had it put on the replacement I have yet to install. I am sure it will turn brown like the other films have. We all need to send a barrage of nasty letters to Honda regarding this. The replacement cost is ridiculous and the simple fact they have a glass lens and not an ABS plastic cover is inexcusable in my mind. My dealer even agrees with me.

Any place cheaper than going to HandA for replacement lens/body? I just got a BIG rock hole in one of mine. $100 Ouch! Can some other after-market fit in these housings, and still use the same wiring harness? This is unbelievable...

Replacement Fog Light Assembly, Any know a website?

Can anyone point me to a link to get back to H and A to purchase replacement fog lamp units? I cant find it on their site, and I am sure it was there a few weeks ago, for $95. Better that the dealers $150+, but still robery..

TIA...

Both of my fog lenses broke about a week ago now and my Honda dealer quoted me $240 (including nasty 15% tax) Canadian for both side.

They don't list the TSX part, but it's the same as the one for the current Accord.

Also, you can't replace the lens with anything but the Honda part. It comes as an integrated lens/reflector/bulb housing and I think you'd wreck it if you tried to pull just the front lens off.

One guy did come up with a nice rock-guard solution. Look towards the bottom of this page: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...9&page=2&pp=25

Somebody should really break that one off from the thread and put it somewhere more obvious.

With this design being the same on the Accord, I can't imagine the amount of money they make on fog light replacements alone. No wonder the dealer threw them in for "free".

I tried the flat lexan. It was easy to get the glass out of the housing, but the flat lexan did not curve to the housing. I had to screw the lexan on. After a few days the lexan was melted from the heat of the bulbs.

For 95 bucks, I'll give you both of the black housings and both lamps if you go in on a purchase with me (all brand new parts of course). I need the wiring harness and hardware, but not the lights and housing since I have the JDM lights coming. Interested? PM me. You'll get double for the same money.

Will those lights fit the TSX?
Why is it on the Accord page only?

Check the thread, but I thought it looked pretty good. I'm not a ricer (nothing against ricers) by any means, like the luxury/sport look of the TSX and I thought it looked pretty sharp.
