FINALLY got the TSX

Ok, I was supposed to pick it up on Friday but I got stuck in Alabama on a business trip

First thing saturday morning, before the dealer even opened, the sales rep met with me and we did all the paperwork.

They talked me into the extended warranty and the GAP protection... not sure how good of a deal those are.

The car is incredibly nice. I love it. I am still trying to learn all about the navi.

I do have one question, in the manual it says that the key fob will adjust your seat for you when you have the presets set... I have yet to get it to work, do you have to synchronize anything?

I put the car in park, clicked "Memo" and then clicked "2". I turn off the car, move the seat to position 1, close the door and lock it. I then unlock the door using my #2 key fob and the seat doesn't move....

I don't get it. We have tryed several different scenerios of when the seat should move but i haven't got it to work once, any ideas?

I will put up some pics

when you start the car with key2, does it say "Welcome driver 2?" If not you'll have to press and hold the lock/unlock till the red led on the keyfob flashes. Now try it and it should work.

Yup, you haven't linked the key fobs to the presets yet.

I paid almost $2k for the extended warranty (7 years 100,000), It covers everything the manufacturer warranty covers, just for a longer period. If you don't ever make a claim, then they give you your money back.

Seemed like a good deal to me, since they will give you your money back. They probably plan on you forgetting 7 years from now, that you can get your money back..

The GAP protection is basically insurance for the first three years you own the car. If your car gets totaled, GAP will cover the "Gap" in the price between your loan amount, and how much the insurance company says your car is worth. This cost me 600 bucks, which now I wish I would not have done probably.

The dealer said that statistically, most people keep their cars (on average) for 7 years. The extended warranty extends the manufacturer's warranty beyond the regular warranty. The dealer wanted to give me the 7 year warranty for almost $1.9k, but I said I won't be driving the car much, so he gave it to me for $1.5k (7 year, 75k miles). You don't have to get it, and you can buy it later (even online). However, by getting it with the dealer, I was able to include it in the finance (with the low APR offer as well). Also, if you get it later, you might need to have the car checked/appraised (or so I was told).

Gap protection protects you in the first half of owning your car. Before I explain, look at this crummy picture I made:

The horizontal axis is time, and the vertical axis is how much money you have left to pay off your loan. In an ideal world, it would follow the blue diagonal line...as you pay off your loan, the amount you owe is the total price minus how much you've paid.

In reality, it follows the red curve, which meets the blue line about halfway, and then follows the blue line. The red curve is the depreciation of your car the second you drive it off the lot. So in the beginning, you may be paying for a $29k car that's only worth $27k now that it's used. If you total your car, or if it gets stolen, the insurance company will pay you what the car's worth (the red line), while you still owe (the blue line) to the bank. Gap insurance takes care of the "gap", so that you won't end up having to continue payments on a car you no longer have.

It's worth it for the first few years, then it's useless. But i'd rather pay the $595 gap insurance than the $2k if something happens in the next couple of years. Now, if you think you can keep your car safe from theft or accident in two years, then you won't need gap insurance (leave it in your garage for 2 years). That's just my 2 cents...

By the way, I was never told that I'd get my extended warranty back if I don't file a claim. You might want to verify it before you buy it.

My dealer discounted the 3 pack (extended warranty, gap insurance, and lojack) if I got all 3 from him. He basically cut out the commission fees that would have otherwise been profit for the dealer.

WOW what a description SoCaliTrojan, but dead on.

The finance lady told me that i would need to go through some process to get the money back. Seemed like something like a rebate process, I have a sheet of paper that has instructions on how to get it back after 7 years...

has anyone else heard of this? hopefully i didn't get scamed

Yeah this is deffinetly the nicest car I have ever owned, or possibly even driven.

The battle right now is keeping it clean, I cleaned it the day after i got it. The pollen here in ATL is really annoying. I am out of state on another business trip this week and my fiance is driving the car in ATL while i am gone. I am supposed to be taking the car down to a party in South GA and showing off the ride this coming weekend. I am debating if i want to wash it before i head down there or wash it once i arrive in the town, and before i go and show it off haha. Its a three hour drive and about 200 miles to the place i am going, so i know it will get nasty if i wash it before i leave ATL.

Congratulations on the new car. Exact same color interior and exterior as mine, including the addition of the rear spoiler. Great choice. I'm loving every minute of my '06

Got the 5AT because my fiance will be driving it most of the time. She can't drive a stick shift.

I have been playing with the sportshift, i like it a lot. I honestly haven't been able to drive it a whole lot since we got it since i am out of the state right now. I am looking forward to the roadtrip in it this weekend.

Will be a lot better then driving back to my house, 6 hours away, in my 98 Civic coupe
