Edmunds -- "reliable source" with regard to '08 TSX info

I've usually trusted Edmunds for information; however, I just can't believe how wrong they could be with at least parts of this write-up (see bold info below):

What Edmunds.com Says:It's still selling well, but an all-new version could do much better.

What We Know: Although Acura's TSX just got a slight refresh this year, reliable sources indicate that a new, fully redesigned version is on the way shortly. This makes sense if you consider the fact that the current TSX is built on the previous-generation Civic platform. Now that the Civic has moved on, it's hardly a stretch to expect the TSX to do the same. We have yet to spy a prototype, so no word on how the styling might look and details on engines and technology are similarly thin. Expect to see a "concept" version at the next Los Angeles auto show in November.

Comments/thoughts on parts of this that aren't actually incorrect?

Edmunds needs to fact check their shit before putting it up.

And even Honda/Acura corporate has stated that the Sport4 concept presented several months back is going to be the new design direction for the JDM Accord which most likely means the TSX will be similar as well.

Someone needs to write Edmunds and tell them to remove the false info.

The bolded part is incorrect, the global-midsize platform consist of: Accord, TSX, TL, Pilot, MDX, and Odyssey. Wheras the the global-compact platform consists of: Civic, Element, and CR-V.

As I understand it the USDM Accord & TL is a special USDM platform, not a global platform. Its made in Ohio (?) and doesn't go on anythign outside the US.

What's the Ridgeline made on anyway...

Nope. The TL shares a platform with the USDM Accord.

Ridgeline platform is based off of the Odyssey/MDX/Pilot platform, which itself is a derivative of the global mid-size platform.

Basically the chassis rails and basic architecture. Each of Honda's platforms also has interchangeable front and rear subframes. This is what allows for the variations such as the TSX, TL, and RL all sharing the same global mid-size platform, but being different sized cars.

Not all. Many of the newer Nissans and Infinitis are built off of the FM (Front Midship) platform.

Re: Accord/TL, yes CG, that's the same point I was trying to make.

Re: jlukja and the Sport4 / 08 concept pics, am I the only one who thinks that thing is butt ugly?
A design like that would be one of the few things that would stop me from trading in my 06 for an 08 when the time comes. I guess I just prefer traditional styling.

Reach, you forget that the USDM Accord is also sold as the Inspire in Japan, and is manufactured in at least a number of different facilities throughout Asia including Thailand. It is not unique to the US market.

As for the Sport4, that is not a protoype, just a design concept. It is meant to illustrate a design direction so don't judge just yet. I think it will be worth a look in a few years.

I think what we end up seeing will be different than the concept drawing, but I think it looks great, especially if we get offered another four door config.

I wouldn't agree with butt ugly but a tad too Pontiac G6'ish to me in its profile.

I'm not too keen on the concept, but the rear reminds me of a G35C

No wonder I hear people describe the TSX as a well-packaged Civic

Nope --- you're not alone. I think it's pretty atrocious, myself. However, I DO realize that it *is* just a concept at this point, so I'll reserve judgement until the actual prototypes are out...

That concpet is pretty atrocious, and way too feminine for me. No way I will buy that if thats what they are planning on.
