Ebay wing spoiler

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Prime...m180255980331&

Has anyone bought one of these non-factory OEM-like spoilers off ebay? I hate that they try to trick you into thinking its OEM but someone should tell this guy that all OEM parts come painted from the factory.

I'm not spending 600 bucks for an OEM spoiler so either i get a cheaper one and have my pops paint it for me, or i dont get one.

But i'm just curious if the quality lacks at all... especially with it having a CHMSL in it. cheap electronics = bad from my experience.

Asthetically i could not care less if it says acura or TSX underneath, i just want to make sure its not a piece of junk.

Any help appreciated. Searched but just got a ton of lip spoiler threads.

I saw yours and it did turn out well. My dad manages a paint shop so thats not an issue, i just don't want to put low quality parts on a nice car so i'm hesitant. I might pick it up and try if noone chimes in and says something to the effect of " i tried it and it fell apart!" heh

Heck, if somebody would be willing to give me a good deal on a paint job for it, I'd buy one. I'd love to have a factory (or at least a decent replica) wing on mine.

I'm ordering either tonight or tomorrow. Will keep you all posted. My dad is very strict on this stuff and if it fits like ass he won't even waste time painting it lol so if its junk it won't end up on my car.

got the spoiler tonight. Barely had a chance to look it over. Feels pretty solid, doesnt feel thin in any spots that I can tell. The LED light strip doesn't come attached. You have to put that on yourself [obviously since i still need to get it painted] and feed the wires through. The directions were sort of "random car" directions, as in nothing specific to this vehicle... which sucks because i would have liked more detail on where to install it, and how to hook up the rear lighting. Maybe i'll scrounge around on here and see if there's an install guide somewhere.

Overall quality thus far though isnt bad IMO. I'll have the painter [dad] go over it in detail though. I did notice a few blemishes he will make me fix before he paints it but havent see anything nuts yet. He can tell if its wavy or not though so i'll hold off on the final review until he sees it.

Just splice the LED to the high mount brake light on your rear deck

um search around for pix of my car... its an oem STYLE one.. lol i've actually grown to like it a lot because the led strip is quite a bit longer than stock.. btw mine was painted pwp too! haha my ex brother in law painted it asm for me. lol... the only flaw with mine is if you look under it where the led is mounted. theres like a lil flaw with the fiber glassing... but its really not all that bad because i never look that hard.. nor does ANYONE.

Got it painted, installed, etc. My dad said everyone at the shop was impressed how close this spoiler was to the factory ones on the level of quality. There were very few, minor, blemishes that had to be feather primered but otherwise it was in good shape.

It looks excellent and the paint color match was spot on [most people don't realize how many shades of "carbon grey pearl" there are, but they got this huge swatch thing full of them with minor differences. A good paint guy will take a look and match a swatch to the car, but a crappy paint guy will just take the paint code and spray.

I'll get pics soon if anyone's interrested. Oh and i finally got my Acura center cap emblems swapped too. Gotta get to the car wash before i take pics though.

Yes, definitely post some pics! I'm very interested to see how this turned out as I'm very interested in getting one of these spoilers for myself.

As far as placement goes, the instructions were nearly useless, so we put it where we thought it looked the best. I think it ended up fine. Some people are super picky but i just look at it and go.. looks good to me. The center of the spoiler lines up with the center of the decklid so its that far back. Side to side tolerance was close but looks great IMO. Not sure where the factory installs these or what guides they use to do so, but i'm sure i'll get someone telling me its wrong somehow lol. oh well.

The electronics worked fine, and we spliced it into the rear deck's tail light. I still have the rear deck's light plugged in actually. not sure if i should leave it in or not.

The gaps are all even and it seemed to fit just fine. The third bolt on the spoiler went inside of the deck lid's rubber stopper hole. That was fun. Each hole that was drilled was also coated with self etching primer, and the hole that was drilled for the electrical wire also received a rubber grommet. This will never rust my car out.

I also have extra paint to paint the underside of the decklid to cover the brass colored screw heads.

All in all it looks good, and was cheap. Free paint and paintjob, and spoiler was like 100 bucks i think. Oh and installation was done by us too so that was free. Sure beats ~600 bucks the dealership quotes to buy and install.

Looks great! I might wind up having to go that route. I looked at a knock off fin at the local flea market for my last car. It was horrible. Burrs all over the place, uneven top, and the sides didn't come down at the same angle. But they only wanted $49 for it with an LED brake light, so I guess you get what you pay for. That truly restores my faith in aftermarket knock offs though.

On a totally unrelated side note, your grass looks fantastic. I wish I could keep mine that green.

chemlawn @ ~$250/year and watering every other day with in-ground sprikler system. simple. =]

But yeah i recommend the ebay dealer. All it needed was some feather primer and some light sanding. Nothing major.

I have a CGP with the OEM wing, and I gotta say - that looks fantastic!!! I can barely tell the difference. The only obvious differences are the LED strip is shaped differently, and the lack of the embossed "TSX" on the underside - which IMO is embossed the wrong way (should be the mirror image) anyways!! If you were wondering/concerned about where you positioned it, since there wasn't a clear template, it looks like it's in the EXACT same place as mine.

I got the OEM wing when I bought it. They disconnected the normal 3rd brakelight on mine and just left the one in the wing. The OEM wing actually has a cord that plugs into the socket for the bulb on the window 3rd light. Just so you know, not saying you have to do yours that way.

Did they actually DISCONNECT the 3rd brakelight? Because with mine, all they did was remove the bulb.

Thats what I meant, they took out the bulb and plugged the wing into it. The housing and everything is still there.
