Dynamat Hood

Thanks for the advise. I am trying to quiet up the noise coming from the engine bay, know any suggestions? I was thinking of putting Dynamat to the hood or dynamat/cascade on the floor.

I doubt youre hearing noise from the hood inside the car. As a former Dynamat Rep I can testify that the hoold liner is very effective at reducing noise, but its not the most attractive product, it does experience discoloration after a few years, and it is difficult to cut perfectly. Also it also retains a lot of heat inside the engine compartment which is a concern in hotter climates. You engine will run warmer and put a little more strain on your cooling system.
Bottom line. I dont reccomend the Hood Liner product. Just Dynamat your firewall, doors, and floor of the vehicle if you have the time. The most significant improvements and reccomended areas of the TSX I would Dynamat are the doors and roof.
By Dynamatting the roof, you would eliminate the tin can sound when it rains on the car. I absolutely must have this done to all my cars. Its not the same, and I cant stand driving any other vehicles in the rain. If done properly, the rain sound should only come from the windshields.
By doing the doors, some wind noise might be eliminated, but the main effect is the doors will sound a little more solid and resonate less in case of a stereo upgrade.
Pay careful attention to the product you select. A big difference is the adhesive compounds each manufacturer uses. Some generic products will sag and fall off under their own weight after a few months or years. Others will crumble and dry out. Make sure to properly prep the application area, use a heat gun to heat the area and dampening material, and take your time.

I have also used various products on the hood and find it a poor choice as far as work/results ratio goes.
Hey, Grod, you might want to get a RTA analysis at a stereo store first. Figure out what you're fighting...
If you want to do your roof, Cascade VB2 or 2HD and a heat gun, and it will NOT come off.
And remember tinting cuts noise, especially thorugh thin TSX side glass...
