Dynamat in the Desert

Dynamat in the Desert
There was a lengthy post awhile back about Dynamat/B-Quiet and eDead as sound deading material. As I have previously stated I used a mix of B-Quiet and eDead in my car. I just moved to Phoenix and the first day it hit 116 all of the material peeled off of my trunk lid? (Where the speakers are) and fell onto my plastic liner. The stuff became very soft and stuck to everything. As it is a Tar/Asphalt base if I had not had my trunk liner in, it would have ruined the carpet.
Something to think about if you want to install this mod in your car in the Desert.

Used live out there (was a Sun Devil for 2 years)....love the area, the best sunsets, but I don't exactly miss the heat. I used to go biking to class in that weather!! You could roast a turkey inside a car with black interior on those +115 days.....

The main differences between the manufacturer's materials is their adhesives. This is the most important factor, the dampening ratings are about the same across all the brands.
One reason to invest in Dynamat and time to apply properly is thier adhesive properties. Its one of the best in the business and justifies the extra cost. I used to be a Dynamat Rep and owned several demo cars. The stuff would stick to the roof and trunk lid the lifetime of the car if applied properly. The adhesive could also remove skin if held too long. I speak from lots of experience.
Im sorry to hear about your experience with the other materials. Anyone else doing this remember to clean and prep the surface properly, then use a roller to apply the material.

When I appledy the b-quiet/eDead I did clean the surface with a alcohol rub and used a hair dryer and roller to apply it. I dont disagree that Dynamat is a great product but considering it is over 6x the price of the other brands out there, its a difficult sell for the working Joe. The only people I knwo that use Dynomat are those who are either doing extreamly well or those that have parents tha pay for everything. (Sorry to Ramble)

I live in Arizona also and all the GOOD local shops say to stick with Dynamat Xtreme for this very reason. You put it on and it will never come off. I have never used anything but xtreme since and never had any peel or come off.

So since your in AZ, we should have a meet up. I had suggested one on the boards awhile back but there was only 2 or 3 peeps that wanted to come.

I'm sorry you are having that problem. I grew up in the Imperial Valley, so I have heat effects "burned" into me...
I'mnot convinced that Extreme won't ever come off... but I know that Cascade VB2 and VB2 HD won't ever come off IF they are applied with a heat gun.
Check with Signature Audio in Scottsdale and see what Dave uses...
