Drove RDX today....
And I gotta tell ya, that thing is dope. I was not too nuts about the exterior design to begin with, but the interior makes it all worth while. So fresh. So clean. And plenty Acura refinement. As far as the handling and ride...I think it would handle better than a stock TSX in some corners to be honest with you. It's tight as hell. The Turbo is nice too....it may out run a stock AT TSX as well. Not sure of any real specs however, these are just my initial impressions. The coolest part...the reverse cam! When you put the bitch in reverse, a camera feed from the rear hatch displays on the Nav screen so you can see exactly what is behind you. Certainly a nice touch. Overall...it's definately THE x3 killer.

Oh yeah!!!! Also ended the day by getting the g/f out of her 2002 civic and into a 2007 Volvo S40. Red on black 2.4i, loaded, for $265/month for 36 mos!!! Hella good deal. She's actually at $10 less a month than she was with the old and busted civic!! So today was a good day overall!

i'm not big on suv's nor am i too fond of the rdx's exterior design. however, i'm very much interested in the rdx's 2.3L turbo and sh-awd - at least to the extent that it relates to transferring to future tsx models.

Its not saying much about the RDX if: "The Turbo is nice too....it may out run a stock AT TSX as well."
My son on his on his Razor scooter can almost out run me in my 06 5AT.
I was expecting the RDX performance to be between the 5AT/6MT TL range, not the TSX range.

If you look at the specs, the TSX and RDX have almost exactly the same power/weight ratio. I would expect similar performance out of them (of course the SH-AWD is going to zap some of that power though).
The RDX has 6.12 Horsepower/100 lbs.
The TSX has 6.11 Horsepower/100 lbs.
That is peek horsepower too.

Exterior styling-wise, I think the new Mazda CX-7 is much better looking than the RDX and the Mazda costs thousands less. The Canadian Acura Expression magazine has an article on the RDX. It says pricing should start in the low 40's CND.
The interior of the RDX does look nice though. It reminds me of the dash from a Land Rover.

"With the variable flow turbo (VFT), Acura has devised a simple, yet elegant solution for reducing turbo lag. At low rpm, a long valve smoothly narrows the incoming passage and speeds the exhaust flow. This keeps the turbine spinning quickly, so there is plenty of turbo boost at low rpm. As rpm rises, the valve opens, allowing the increased exhaust volume to flow freely through a second intake chamber, keeping turbo boost high. The forced intake air is cooled through a top-mounted intercooler, making the air denser and allowing it to burn more powerfully. The result is the instant and steady power delivery of a much larger engine, while retaining the light weight and cruising efficiency of four cylinders."
I hope they use the VFT for the 08 TSX.

EGT's (exhaust gas temps) are so high on turbo gasoline engines (e.g. versus diesel, which is much cooler) that I would worry about long-term reliability of any variable-geometry setup with a gas motor. The exhaust side of a gas motor turbo can easily get red-hot during extended aggressive driving.
As an aside, another cool way to achieve the same effect is with a VVT (Variable Vane Turbo), but again I think gas EGT's are too hot.

She said: it's GINORMOUS!
calling JTso...
when honda puts the 2.3T on the TSX, *cough*JTso*cough* needs to rig up a water injection system on the intercooler.
so everytime we downshift on the paddles, it squirts to cool the air *hint hint*

They could skip the AWD and just do RWD and save weight, complexity and gas mileage. He he!!
