My folks, gf, and I visited my uncle's family yesterday because we hadn't seen his family in a few yrs. When he greeted us at the door He saw the TSX and at first because he only saw the TSX from the side thought that I still had my previous car which was a 99 Accord.

I was like no Uncle Ted, I traded in that 99 Accord for an Acura TSX. He said oh, well from far away it looks like your 99 Accord still, but it's a nice car.

In your opinion does the 99-02 6th gen Accord sedan and the TSX/Euro Accord look a little similar?

a little similar? ... they have four doors... maybe if you had the same colour that was similar...

some people think all cars look alike, so maybe they did to him, but IMO they don't look anything alike.

 

Similar, perhaps, but not enough that one should get the two confused. Of couse, since the Euro Accord, which the TSX is based off of, is technically the evolution of the 6th gen accord, it is an excusable error.

 

tsx and 99 accord look so different..

 

Old people and non-car enthusiasts seem to not be able to differentiate between cars for some reason. 99 Accord and TSX look nothing alike.

 

My uncle is 47, but maybe cause he hasn't seen the 99 Accord in awhile. I had that popular Beige color one on the Accord and now have a CG TSX.

He has a Volvo and a G20.

 

lol if he mistook the colours, then maybe that's your first clue as to guessing his level of recognition with cars...

beige and CG aren't at all similar looking...

 

I think it's kind of like how when someone doesn't know a large number of people from one ethnicity and think they all look alike. I've hear of racist, but that's carcist.

 

Is the 6th gen the one that diverged from the rest of the world's (better) accords?

You're right, the only similarities are the 4 drs and a little bit of the same front shape of the headlights, bottom front gap, and the grill.

But, I noticed that the front hood is the same length on both cars and the trunk length is also the same length. Although coming from the Accord to the TSX that 6th gen had a lot more room in the rear, was lower, and was wider too than the TSX.

 

Well, to a large degree and especially compared with 50+ years ago, cars do all look the same today. You have to look at (and know) some pretty fine details to distinguish two cars (particularly two models of the same make) compared with the body styles of pre-1970s cars.
