Do you like the gauges?

Since the car is one of the only ones on the market to have the speedo and tach gauges start at due south, do you think it's a good or bad thing? ( i can only think of ferrari's and the new rx-8 to have them too) and are you used to them yet? i don't know why acura did this; it's not an F1 car.

despite of it starting at due south... the gauges are my fav part of the interior. its so clean how the tach and speedo are identical to each other. i like symmetry and the tsx has it.

so basically, i LOVE the gauges.

The gauges are great overall. I think the way they all point straight down when the car's off is cool. Sure, it's not an F-1 car but it's a nice sporty touch.

The only problem is that the made the numbers a little too "compressed", but you get used to that after about 100 miles. Very easy to read, the symmetry is nice, and the LEDs look interesting. I get comments about them from every passenger.

is it hard to glance down at them when you're driving? in a normal car when you're driving at 2k rpm in the TSX it's comparable to the car being at 4-5k rpm.

You get used to the pointing due south thing very quickly. And besides, I dont knwo about you but I am not constantly looking at my speed or rpms anyways. I love the guages, especially at night.

Not at all. Like I said, you get used to the shift relatively quickly. Nothing to worry about.

I think the guages are fantastic. Easy to see and by starting a due south, if you are every glancing for shifting, its a lot easier where they are at now.

I'm loving the gauges for all the reasons already stated. You get used to 'em fast -- no problem.

But I don't like how the numbers are compressed. I wish the speedo only went to 140, allowing more room to spread out.

Also, this car is so smooth at high speed, the needle just begs to be taken past the 12:00 position But if you're a good citizen, that area goes unused

I haven't read a review of the TSX that hasn't mentioned that the gauges are less than amazing! And it's true, they are damn SWEET!!! IMHO they're simply one of the best interior features on the TSX.

ouch, my eyes!

I personally find it to be a terrible eye strain to move my eyes the extra 1mm to see the speed at 25 mph at 7 o'clock.

Just kidding... I think the gauges are great looking and you get used to them very quickly. They are very pleasing to the eye and almost as cool as that little blue light shining down.

I think the RSX has needles that point at 6 o'clock at 0 mph as well.

in agreement... you will get used to them fast.. the gauges are one of the coolest features of the car... day or night.... it is really cool how the center needles appear to float.

The better question is why NOT? They're different, and they're cool.

To be different, yes. It's much more interesting than a regular gauge panel. I think it adds a more upscale look to the interior.

When I open my drivers door, my instrument panel lights up a little bit as if she's saying "hi". Then when I put in the key it gets a little brighter. Then when I crank her up, full brightness. She loves me!

I thought the guages looked pretty cool in pictures....when I saw them in person, I fell in love with them. The first look at them was when the car door opened and they lite up and then they just dimmed. If the car is off, they're totally dark (very cool). So basically, I love'em.

I agree with most comments that have been voiced already. The guages are fantastic. However, I think it would have been better if the tick marks on the speedo had been made at every 5 mph increment, instead of every 2 mph.

The dual stage illumination setting is very cool (lights on/off), especially with the bar graph showing you the setting and courtesy beep. The lighting in this car overall kicks ass and brings a whole new love in a world where we've recently been accustomed to plasma screen monitors and televisions.

It makes most other automotive lighting systems seem boring. At the TSX price point can you think of a vehicle that has as good lighting inside and out

The gauges are awesome, but the blue light shining down on the shifter is the SHIT.

Speed Demon, you read my mind. I was just about to post about the same thing. On the freeway its a little hard to tell when I'm at 65 because of the increments - so I just drive an even 80. That small gripe aside, I love the look of the guages. They are awesome.

Do you not like your guages?

I don't know about others, but I can adapt to almost all the guages in any car except those with digital guages like S2000. I will need some time to get used to the guages in the S2000.

I think that it's stupid that so much space is wasted on high MPH (especially since the car's top speed is drag-limited at 133).

I like Saab's idea much, much better. As a matter of fact, I don't understand why all car companies don't do what Saab does: Compress the high end of the speedometer.

I'm just talking about the way the speedometer compresses, not the (ugly) looks of it.

When you're going fast, you don't care if it's 137 or 139. But if you're going highway speeds, it's often very important to know if you're going 68 or 71, especially if you're going a little over the speed limit.

As far as the TSX gauges starting from the 6:00 position, I don't mind that at all. And the gauge illumination is awesome, much nicer looking than any car I've seen.

I absolutely LOVE the gauges.
BUt.....
As someone said earlier on this board and I agree with them, I wish 50mph wasn't so low on the speedo!
I agree. Until you adjust to it it almost seems as if you are only doing 30mph. when taking a quick glance, but it's not that hard to adjust to.

I think to do that, you'd have to have somebody else take the picture for you...at least I would.

Here is a pic of my gauges from yesterday:

The guages are sweet and certainly complement the overall quality of the interior. It doesn't take long to get used to their orientation.

I love em! They aren't my favorite part of the car but they're up there. I wish the cluster had more info tho. Just add a couple more guages like Voltage and Oil Pressure. It would make the care much sportier, IMO.

Before buying my TSX, I heard some people complaining about the guages and how the speedo starts at 6o'clock. After buying the car, it did not bother me at all. You get totally used to it. The way I look at it is, if you dont' have common judgement on your speed without constantly looking at your speedo, you shouldn't be driving.

My $.02.
