Do some TSXs have felt on the windows?
I got my SSM/6M/Ebony about a month ago. I've held off on tinting the windows in fear of the dreaded tint scratches. But today I actually looked at the window while it was down (imagine that), and it seems like there is a felt strip surrounding the window. Is the problem that the strip doesn't go all the way down into the door? Or do some owners not even have this? I'm confused. I can take photos if anyone can host them.

Comments from my tint guy about him getting the felt from Acura (his company does a lot ot work for dealers) make me think that Acura might be aware of the problem and adding it to newer builds. Not sure though.

someone should put that on a big sticky or something
any way, the tint guy was over here last night. he does commerical stuff and is going to tint our windows on the house, and two of our cars (my tsx n my dads gulf) well ontop of deciding what % to get, (the limit is 30 front 25 rear, n i want the same thing all around). the guy said that most tints he sells have some ammount of metal in them. and ontop of it he looked at my seals n said theyre fine, nice n wide so i shouldnt get scratches or loose radio reception. tho he did go on to say that someone ina G35 that he did with simliar stuff, probably the more reflective said lost radio. but non of his vehcials hes done have ever scratched.
hmmm i dunno if its the product he uses, product grade, or if its just they dont get it? im gunna hafta clean my things more often, right now its really dirty. and i have a good feeling that its cuz i always have my windows open. i didnt even realize how much stuff gets down there

Found this pic over on the TL site. It shows the rubber seal and it has two parts a upper wipe and a lower wipe part with the mole skin:

Nope, that is on the inside. Does anyone else have this and, if so, does your tint scratch?
**I stand corrected. From outside to inside, the materials are:
felt--> glass--> rubber seal
I suppose this felt would indeed do nothing to protect the tint from the inside of door!

I will probably just have mine tinted without the moleskin. In a car that is already prone to creaks and rattles, I sure don't want Joe Schmoe taking off my door panels. Plus I've got a lease and don't need somebody screwing something up! I still have no clue why they would have felt outside the window, but not inside. So everyone's car is set up like this?

I posted this earlier and there were pics, but photobucket won't let my hotlink anymore because I went over my limit. Still no scratches on the tint.

All are designed alike, none of the TSXs are installed with special felts.
Anyways, two month after my tint installation, I'm beginning to see fine vertical scratches on my driver side, however the scratches you hear of are quite exagerrated. It's barely noticeable.

yea i understand that all design are alike. What i'm saying is that the design itself could be a design defect becuase it's causing fine scratches on the inside windows. So that why i was injecting the idea of having the felt put in as a waranty work becuase of design defect.

The problem is that this design does not work well with an aftermarket tint material (that scratches much more easily than the glass window). Acura isn't responsible for making the car compatible with that aftermarket enhancement. (That said, I think it's pretty dumb not to design for compatibility with something as common as tinting film...)
