DIY: Side Grill Chrome Inserts
DIY: Side Grill Chrome Inserts
hey again guys,
So I'll jump right in... after I saw this picture of someone's TSX... I'm sorry but I can't remember his/her user name
Here's his picture:

please claim the car if it was yours
You could go and buy the insert kit from eBay for aroud $16.00, or you could go and buy this:

for 5.00 for Kragen Auto Parts
I then went ahead and measured the fins on the side of the car and cut the pieces to size:

And then superglued them to the fins
Here's the finished product!!

Enjoy!

hrmmm i tried to do this on my 07 pwp tsx. it didn't turn out that great. it keeps slipping off. and when i try to push it harder the grill just gets pushed in
i also bought the ones from kragen auto parts
no problem with the parts but how did you get them to stick on so good?

oh patience no wonder i couldn't get it right. next time be specific and write that you must have patience to complete this
i think ill use patience tomorrow and try to get it done thanks
i got the eBay kit and installed the long lower grill piece but not the shorter pieces. One day after installing it, it had popped off. So i re-applied it then taped it down with painters tape and left it on for 5 days. I removed the painters tape on the 5th day and it hasn't popped back off yet.
if someone wants the shorter pieces i'll sell'em cheap. i'm not going to install them.

just did this today on my CGP, in the process of doing the little pillars on the lower grill as long as that long piece on the lower grill. after frustration of the superglue method, i tried another method out and it worked well - cut the door trim in half, and since there's already adhesive in there, you can just stick in on. I just added a little superglue onto the corners and the top for additional support. just took a 30 minute drive and its still on there good. working on the lower grill now. i'll post pics up later or tomorrow
is it me or does it only look good from far away? how's it like for you other guys whos done this? i'm actually considering takign it off now after looking at it up close lol. but i do like the look from afar.

ended up staring at it and didnt really like it. it killed the luxurious feel when i got close. and now it left some sort of residue (not superglue, but from the adhesive) on the fog plates. looks like i'm gonna get some fogs!

hahahah... Sorry but I really did laugh out loud when I saw the photos. Not in a bad way though. It's just... haha... the TSX's bumper looks like the
emoticon and with the trim, it looks like it has "teeth"
and it just makes the car whole lot "happier" looking than it already is. hahah. I kinda like it.and on the ASM TSXs... it looks like you guys have a customized/simplified Euro R front lip. That's hot
Last night I saw a black TL, and apparently he did this mod because as it got closer, my eye was drawn to the bumper. It looked terrible when he was right by me (I was waiting to turn left on one street, and he had just completed a left turn to get into my street)
wong...that doesn't look good on your CGP, especially the vertical ones. Maybe if you tried using touch-up paint and coloring the ones on the side to make it look like the Euro-R lip?
Or maybe make a mesh....

Hmm I was actually seriously considering doing what wong05tsx did...but I wouldn't have chromed the middle part. Only add chrome bits to the 3 slits on both sides of the bumper. What do you guys think about that?
so basically this.......photoshopped
I've got the pieces if you want to buy them cheap. I'm not installing them on mine. I like the opposite of what you like. I prefer just the long piece.

I have it on my 06 but I got the ones off Ebay. They are thinner and look much better IMO. The guy that had done the grille on the 04, take it off! It looks horrible. Looks like something made by Chrysler.
