Different Shades of Blue...
Different Shades of Blue...
Have you guys been in an accident where your exterior parts had to be replaced by Acura OEM parts (unpainted)? If so, did the mechanics paint the unpainted parts okay?
I mean... what are the chances of having different shades of the same color on your car after an accident? I know it varies between different autobody shops but I would like to know if there are such incidents.
and yea... I'm scared my driver side will be a different ABP than the rest of the body...
(not in the mood to talk about my accident)

Your probably right when you say that is different from dealer to dealer. I know it has nothing to do with acura, but my sister who owns a VW beetle had her parked car ramed in the driver door. When the new door was painted locally, my sister and mother ended up noticing there at the dealer that it was a different shade of yellow than the rest of the car. Subtle, but still noticable. My sister notified the dealer, and they repainted it without any hassle. Hope it comes out just fine though!
Repainting
The right rear passenger door on my 2006 RBP TSX was badly scratched in April 2007. A local body shop I found on Angie's list restored it flawlessly and I cannot distinguish the repainted area from the original paint. The workers there told me specifically they use a fade in - fade out method to achieve this.

when my less than 2 week old 05 civic was hit on the side by another driver backing up and not looking I took it to a very reliable body shop. they matched the paint perfectly. on the other hand years ago our volvo was damaged in the rear and we took it back to the dealer to get the bumper and rear repaired-lousy job- paint never matched.
It depends on the body shop and your color. Some colors are hard to match. And some body shops are amateurs at painting, and will either mix the paint wrong or spray it on wrong.
My CGP's front bumper was repainted so perfectly, it matches exactly.
Just do your research, and be sure they guarantee their work so they'll repaint it if necessary

Z just take it to Leifs auto body in Tualitin. One of the most expensive shops in Portland, I have had my past cars done by them or Kadells in Tigard, and Kadells I could sort of tell, but Leifs was perfect every time!
