De-badge Instructions

hey,

i searched for "debadge" and "eblem removal" and couldn't find anything...

i'm planning on taking off the "acura" and "tsx" off the back of the car

i remember reading an old thread that just said you had to have a hair dryer and some dental floss....is this true?

i also read that i should use -emblem glue removal- instead of goo gone for the left over glue ???

anyone have any tips for me for this little project?

or if anyone has a link to an old thread for -step-by-step- instructions

thanks,

-j

this is what i did and it worked wonders
i parked the car in the sun for 20 mins
poured some hot water on the emblems
using the floss, removed the emblems
did not have any goo gone so i just used bug and tar remover
and rubbed any adhesive left behind off

Yeah, I suggest leaving your car outside in the sun before debadging. I used a blow dryer to heat up the adhesive then ran floss to remove the emblems. Goo Gone worked like a charm for me.

You need to get 3m or that kind of 3m gluey substance.

if your neat you can just do plain 3m.

I see.. How do you know where to position the emblems back though?

Do you just have to estimate?

There are specific measurements from the Helms manual to position them.

... or take some measurements of the existing emblem before you remove it.

That's funny that TacoBellSauce put a transformer sticker in place of the A because I had been thinking the front grill of the TSX shares the same geometric theme as the the transformer's logo, sort of a cat or bird head rendered with straight edges.

All together I would estimate around an hour to an hour and a half, but time shouldn’t be a factor when undergoing such a modification or any modification, it should be about the quality of the end result, so don’t rush take your time. I will hopefully do a DIY, soon once I have my M3 trunk lip.

Took me longer because I was very gentle with the Goo Gone (worked quick with the floss, leaving more adhesive on there), and also because I used some cleaner wax a couple of times, to remove any remaining stuff.
