You'll probably get more info in the Audio/Video forum in Off Topic.

Are you looking to replace your current headunit or add in an additional indash underneath in those two compartments like some have done? If you replace the original HU then you will lose bluetooth I am pretty sure. There are plenty of route to go when it comes to GPS, I like Garmin. Tbh TomTom's suck since I used to work at CCity and everyone who bought one returned it due to multiple diff probs with them...mainly they jus suck. Garmin is a good way to go and it's pretty pocket friendly.

If I were you I would get a double din dvd/navi unit and mount it under your original HU but it would take a custom indash kit to be built for it which is time consuming if you do it yourself or expensive if you pay someone to do it for you. It will look a lot cleaner IMO. If you decide to go this route then you can get a decent AVIC unit for a good price from eBay or somewhere online opposed to a brick and mortar store.

yes i would like to replace my head unit and aget a double din, but not if that means that i will lose the bluetooth. I already have a portable Garmin gps but i want a full size head unit. I don't like the portable gps's.

If you decide to replace it and get a double din you can get one that has bluetooth equipped and have it integrated into your car but idk if you would be able to still use the steering wheel controls

well i actually just came back from best buy and i was talking to some of the guys who work there and they said they can fit an after market double din gps to fit perfectly. i will get one that has the bluetooth so i wont have to worry about that and also he said i can probably still have the steering wheel controls but i would have to buy some special pieces and it wont really be worth the cost. I'm thinking of getting the PIONEER AVIC-D3 but im gunna shop around.

I think the guy above assumed that you're wanting to replace the factory navi with an aftermarket one. Thread reading fail.

It seems just as sensible as swapping auto tranny for manual. IMO its easier to sell your car and get another one with GPS. Unit itself costs around 2 grand and u dont even know it u can slam it there

Use the Garmin portable GPS and a friction mount. It works great!

i don't really get why i would sell my car and have to remove the springs, black roof etc. and try to find another white tsx with good km and navi and i dont know what the previous owner did to the car when i can just save all that time and effort and just purchase a navi and install it all for under $1,000??

^ I think they think you may want to do the OEM swap since that would be rather lengthy and expensive but still not sensible at all to sell the car for a diff one etc...it's not like a pair of rims haha.

As for the navi and everything have you decided on one yet? Eclipse are pretty nice actually, they depend overall, but most are up there in price and quality. Prolly one of the top for indash navi aftermarket units...you could def do worse lol.

The friction mount would be fine but I think he wants it to be incorporated in the car and not just randomly sittin there like so many ppl dlee74

The factory HU and AC share the same circuit board. If you want to put an aftermarket stereo in place of the factory HU, you'll have to do a lot of custom work. Search for a setup by xenonhid, and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's not as simple as you think. If you want to put the aftermarket stereo where the storage bin is, that's a lot easier.

A friend of mine sells car audio. he offered me the brand new eclipse avn 6620 for $950 with every option. ipod/blue tooth/back up cam which is a good price but a lil more than what i wanted to spend. i will sill have to get it installed and by the harness which will run me another $300. he is trying to get me a refurb which he usually sell for about $400 with warranty.

Custom made harnesses lol. No one makes one for a double din for our cars. It is a bit pricey if you get someone to do it or you can make it yourself and it won't be so bad, jus some elbow grease and time investment. As for the headunit that isn't too bad but idk much about that specific model. Overall I would say don't get a cheap one because those look tacky but as a general comp price I would say $900 for BNIB for all that is a good price and I would save to buy that. I avoid refurbs by all means necessary since they are never as good as what they were.

What I do is if I have to get a refurb due to a huge price diff is buy a refurb online, then BNIB from store and swap the refurb for the one in store and return to the store saying this isn't what your friend wanted or something so you wanna return it. It works eventhough it's "illegal" and a total dick move to whoever buys it new but then again if refurb is jus like a new one then what does that matter lol

LOL, I'm no asshole but that is a total asshole move, i agree. But again, if a manufacturer guarantees a refurb to be new then it shouldn't be a prob. I believe in karma and if it happens to me then I got what I had coming. i agree with u...oh well, I been screwed enuff in my life to balance it out too lol. But back to the thread, let us know how your install/decision comes about. Interested to know of the outcome as I talked to a guy at CCity who been doing installs with them for over 25 yrs and he says easiest and best route would b to custom make a dash kit for the double din.

Nothing for a double din, METRA has made a single din one but I was told you can't modify for DD for some reason. It is made for the Honda Accord Euro but the outfit for our vehicle is the same since they are the same car. Double Din needs to be custom made by someone for you, nothing jus out there to be bought though
