dash access panel removal - help

Please help, I have been looking at this all day. How do you remove that triangle type access panel on the driver's side on the side of the dash?

Thanks

insert a small screw driver in the small gap and pry outwards. it will just pop out.

That is what I thought but after looking there does not appear to be small gap. I inserted a small screwdriver and the soft plastic is now marked up a bit. I thought there maybe some trick to it.

I looked through the entire "Interior" section of the Helm's service manual and found nothing on it.

However, looking at that picture, there seems to be a tiny gap at the 45* point of the "rounded" edge (closest to the vent). I believe you might even need something as small as a pick set to get in there.

What is it you're trying to do? I can look in the Helm's for the way to do what it is you're doing, which might not even involve this panel.

o4 manual only shows how to remove that cover on passenger side:
You need to reach in and push from inside of the dash to release 8 hooks.

What are you trying to do ?

Actually, looking at the instructions for glove box removal, the mirror-image panel on the passenger side has removal instructions:

Basically: Get behind the panel and push it out. There seem to be 8 tabs that once you can get your hand behind there (from under the dash after removing lower bolster?), you push towards the inside of the panel you're removing and that will release them, one by one.

Edit: To access it on the drivers' side you will have to remove the switch panel by your left knee (moonroof, VSA, etc). The panel comes out as a unit and you just unplug the connectors to completely remove it. Then jam your hand in the hole where the switch panel was, and pop the panel you're targeting, out.

Be careful, this could get ugly (visually).

I figured it out, or at least I got it out. At about the middle of the curve I pushed the dash part in, away from the panel. I was able to push it in enough to make a small gap between the dash and the panel. Then got my nail in that gap and popped the panel out. Don't know if this was "correct" but it worked.

Trying to wire some tweeters to the crossover further down in the line and need to route the wire.

Yes, got the passenger side by pushing it out.

One would think a small dent would have made sense for easier access.
