Damage totals?
Damage totals?
Some lady ran a red light and clipped my car last night on my way home from work. My damage is nothing compared to the car that was next to me. The car that hit me was an SUV.
Damage totals? Right now looks like I'll need new hood, from bumper (or repainted?), grill, and new headlight. I did a quick run through and doesn't look like there is damage elsewhere except part of fender where back of the hood is. Oh yeah, will also need new clear bra. That's covered by insurance too right?
Taking car to shop in a little bit.
To think this is the first time I've taken pictures of the car

Thanks for the info.
I went to the shop, its going to be a while before they get the car in. This looks like it can be done by myself but I don't have the time or place to fix stuff like this, so I'll probably just wait and drop it off at the shop in a few weeks. Plus who knows what other damage may be underneath when the bumper comes off.
Right when I saw the SUV cross, I hit the brakes and was thinking to myself, don't hit me, don't hit me, and all I hear is a couple of thumps and the SUV smashing the car next to me. A couple of feet either way and it probably would have missed me or I could have had major damage.

When a car hit my parked car, it was $800 because they only repainted the bumper (Mercury insurance refused to pay $1200 to replace it). This didn't include the grille (Mercury refuses to fix or replace it, so I'm going around with a messed up grille). Your costs will be higher because they have to replace the hood and headlight. The bumper might be just repainted, and the grille might be fixable (re-chromed). The hood trim will have to be replaced.

Why the hell would you DIY?? If the woman ran a red light, she's probably at-fault, for all damage. And I wouldn't try to minimize it, if the front bumper cover can't be smoothed and restored to new appearance, her insurance company is on the hook for ALL repairs incurred by their client's collision.
If you haven't already, call your insurance company, report the incident, give them all the data (police report?), pics, and contact info for the other driver and her insurance company. Then sit back, wait for the OK signal to start repairs, and get 'em done.
I'm sure this is upsetting, don't make it more so. One of the things you pay your insurance company for is to represent your interests in such a case. (And the reason a bank requires certain levels of insurance is to ensure the property they have a lien on, is kept in salable condition.)
