Cross Country Trip

The wife and I are planning a trip to New Orleans from Colorado and i was wondering if anyone has taken a long trip in the TSX and , if so, what were some of the experiences? Does the car seem like a good vehicle for an extended road trip?

I've taken a few 2 and 3 hours trips in the car and its been very comfortable.

On Sunday returning from a Cottage up North I ended up being stuck in traffic. What should have been a 3 hours trip turned into 7. After the first few hours I started to feel figity so I just moved the seat to another position. I could always find a position in the seat that made me perfectly comfortable. So the answer is yes, its great for long road trips, although the passenger side could definently use a few more positions.

I've done continuous drives of upwards of 3 hours and the TSX is incredibly comfortable. I can't get enough of driving the TSX. It's one of the best cars for long cruises that I've ever driven.

I have take a few 3+ hour trips as well as a trip to vegas, around 10 hrs...it was GREAT! the tsx is made for the highway, and it fun driving at a lower elevation too!

oh and goose, stop by and pick me up on your way I could use a vacation!

I've hit up to 6 hours of driving in the TSX, and it's been a pretty decent drive.

As domn mentioned, you might have to shift the seat a little after a couple of hours, but that's typical of most cars I've driven long distances in.

One thing I've found useful is to slump a little in the seat, then set your seat to be comfortable for that position. As you drive, you'll start out straighter and then start slumping a bit.

Thanks for all the replies, i thought that the post was just going to hang out there. We're trying to decide whether to drive to New Orleans (2 Days) or to Vegas (1 Day) and relax for some fun in the sun. I've driven cross country in a 2 door Civic EX (no fun) and an Accord 4 door EX (decent trip) and hope to have a good experience in the TSX. I'm trying to make an appointment to get the windows tinted because i'm sure i'll need it no matter where we drive.

Yes i know about the humidity in Nawlins, but I went to the University of New Orleans and wanted to show my wife the campus and also do the French Quarter. We'll probably end up going to Vegas anyway because it's closer.

I've driven from northern Virginia to Wisconsin in mine (~860 mile/12 hour drive). It was a great ride overall. The seats are very comfortable. I don't really like where the headrest is, but I don't usually use it either. It may be an issue on a long trip like this, though.

The headrests should not be a problem. With my wife along, i'm sure we'll take plenty of rest stops along the way. It's about 850 miles to Vegas and we're looking at taking 12 - 14 hours to get there. If i were driving alone, more like 12 hours.

I've only taken the TSX on a 2 hour drive...

But I've taken my old Jeep on three cross-country trips! Once from San Francisco all the way to Rochester, NY. Four and a half days driving total. I drove 10+ hours a day.

The most important thing to remember is: take enough brakes to stretch out, eat, and make a bathroom break. As long as you take little breaks, you'll be fine in any car.

The TSX, of course, is MUCH more comfortable than a Jeep Wrangler!

i took a 15 hr drive last november from FL to NJ. Actually I drove 12 hrs and my gf drove 3hrs. here are some highlights

- ride was smooth throughout the whole trip
- seats were comfy and supportive
- 6 cd changer was key
- heated seats relaxed my back when it started to tense up
- averaged 30 MPG

planning to do it again this nov.
