Costco Quote

I just received a Costco quote from a dealer in So Cal. Get this, $100 UNDER MSRP. Are they flippin kidding?? Even the sales mgr was like "yea, we can do better".

I saw some posts on here that said Costco was about 1000 to 1200 over invoice. Not sure whats going on here. Need to call Costco to verify.

Luckly, the sales mgr was in a negotiating mood. I got him down to about 27,800 (this is a 6sp w/navi). I should be able to get him down to 27,500 once im down at the dealer. This is WITH destination too, so im stoked. Just mention Holdback, they love that...

I also got a price on my trade in. On my 98 Tacoma, the wholesale was 7,500. I told him, thats a FAIR price (didnt say great), and he was like "woooha, no thats BEFORE all the work we do with it". So I said "Its in near perfect condition, just normal ware and tear." Sales: "WELL, I dont know, maybe 7000"

Which is about what I want. I'll get 7500 though

First time I ever negotiated something like this over the phone. Of course, I wrote everything down...

When in doubt with negotiate like Cartman does "Oh, cmon, your breakin my balls"

I should get it this weekend, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Good luck on your negotiating - the salesman is thinking just like you.

GOT IT. 29500 Out the door. Carbon Grey, 6SP w/navi. Couldnt be more happier

Considering this was in So Cal, and seeing what others have been getting, this was pretty darn good. My advice to anyone out there, start with asking for msrp out the door (remember, out the door means EVERYTHING, tax, title, reg, add-ons). I think thats a good base. We eventually worked it to 29500 and I was stoked. Even got wheel locks and mudflaps thrown in. Bonus

Now, my trade in was another story. I wanted to get 7500 for it, but they would only give me 7000, so I didnt take it. Here is where they got me. I dont know if this was really true or not, but they were saying that since my truck was lifted, they couldnt take it and sell it on their lot because of liability issues. I didnt even think about this one when doing my homework. But, oh well Im just going to sell it now and get about 3K more, so I guess it works out anyway.

Here is a link explaining holdback:

Very nice price. I wish I could have gotten a deal like that 10 months ago.

I, too, went with the Costco program and paid $28,535 for my Black/Ebony 5AT, Navi, OEM Fog installed, Cargo Mat, Mug Flap, wheel locks. This is back in March 2004.

Thanks for the advice with the hold back. The costco deal up here in Nor Cal is right now $1500 over invoice on all TSXs. $2500 over invoice for TLs (non navi only! Navigation is not on the Costo list) and $500 over invoice for all RSX's except for the Type S which is $1000 over invoice.

These prices are ridiculous! So what I'm in the process of doing is going between two dealers. Working them both! Told one dealer about the costco deal and I told them it was 1000 over invoice. But now reading about this 'holdback' I say to them. Last night the offer to me was $29,016 for a tsx 5sp auto with navi. Options: fog lights, underbody kit, trunk tray, 5 spoke wheels, and wheel locks. I don't know yet what to think of it since he is giving me the options at cost. The 'invoice' is at $25,5xx without their 'holdback' of $750. I'm gonna go in there and try to get out the door as well for $29,500.

Also about the wholesale price on your trade in. Is that what they were offering you? They were offering me the trade in value for my trade in (750iL). This is what is pissing me off. there is a 2K difference between the two and I need to get rid of the trade in to make room for the TSX.

Wish me luck

I bet they don't get many of those trade ins.

And people say folks don't cross shop like that.

With gas prices the way they have been a 750 is no longer reasonable to drive around even just for the weekends. It's funny when they open up the hood and see what's under there. They all want to take it for a ride. I remind them about the 12mpg (if you are lucky) and they have second thoughts about it.

I might have just ended my quest for a tsx. I found a nice used one for $26000 just the way I want it. 8900 miles and in good condition. Best thing is it's 12 miles away. No options on it though.

I'm gonna give the dealer one more try this afternoon and if that all fails, I will just have to sell the 750 on my own. :'(

What options? It doesn't come with any. Unless its a dealer you should be able to do even better than $26K.

My neighbor had an E32 ('91) that he had to get rid of and bought an E38 750 (an 01 I think) - like many he couldn't stomach the new E65 7 series. You should be able to find someone that will appreciate that tank, poor gas milage and all.

The only 'options' they offer, that I wanted, are the 5 spoke 17" wheels, the underbody spoiler kit, and the trunk mat.

The hard thing about selling the 750 are all the joyriders out there. And it's hard to discriminate who is seriously interested...

How old is the 750i? If its less then 3 or 4 years old, then they can offer wholesale easily. But, question, wouldnt they owe YOU money if you were going to buy a TSX?? Unless of course the car isnt paid off?

Make sure you start with asking for msrp out the door. This way that will set yourself up. Of course there more then likely say no, but now you can go up from there. Try even 29400. Dosent cost anything to ask...

I ended up holding up on the deal as I got fed up with the lousy treatment at the local Acura. Now I might just take my business to another lot. (At least that is what I will tell them.) The car is paid for completely. The thing is they won't even give me the wholesale price since supposedly they a) can't sell it on thier lot. (Not a car they would consider selling) and b) they supposedly don't know crap about BMW's and they would have to take it to a local BMW dealer to have it inspected (even though it was just fully serviced 4K miles ago. So I just got up and left. It was worth the look on their faces. Now I will just have to wait til the end of this comming month to work them again. I do have a buyer for the BMW now . Just after 2 days on the net. I've gotten numerous calls since I'm selling it at wholesale price.

Hope to have the TSX in the garage by the end of June.
