Console box (behind the shifter) light

Please limit responses to three, or four, replies.

Do you have a light in your "console box" (behind the shifter)? It should be checked when the parking lights, or headlights, are on. Otherwise, it likely has no voltage applied.

The wiring diagram on Page 22-180 of the Service Manual indicates a 1.4W light in the Console Box. But, I have found no light in my console.

If by behind the shifter you mean the one under the armrest, then there is no light in there. If by behind the shifter you mean the one below the radio but above the "not an ashtray" compartment, then there is a light.

A blue light at that.
Or are you talking about the center console box, aka: arm rest?

Behind the shifter = under the armrest.

Thanks, fellows.

Interesting that the Service Manual wiring diagram shows a "Console Box" light (P. 22-180) that is wired to the same voltage source as the Glove Compartment Light, but there is no light in the "Console Box"; presuming that the Console Box is the box under the armrest.

I don't recall seeing any such lights. For those of you who have them, can you post pics? Are they LED like the ambience light or a regular bulb?

Jim, the light they are referring to since inside the CD storage box directly underneath the radio/HVAC controls and above the "not an ashtray" compartment. If you open up this compartment, there is a light in there and not just the blue mood lighting on the outside.

That's the light they must be talking about.

I just went out and looked. I had never opened that lid at night. Interesting that they would put a light in that small compartment, but not in the main console under the armrest. It sure is useful to have a light in the main console.

I actually got on of those lighter splits, and added a snake wire light that shines out of the hole, to give the inside a bit more blue on the climate control panel =P
