considering of buying tsx...need help!

hey guys, im thinking about buying a new 6speed tsx...just want to get some input for it.
how much did you guys get yours for out the door? id want to get a 6speed manual with navigation. i know you can bargain on these cars, at least honda. i used to have an 04 honda accord and i was able to bargain to for the invoice price out the door.

i traded in the accord last year and currently i drive an 05 Evo...its at stage 1+ right now, has about 300whp. i love the car, but i dont like the unwanted attention i get. the vandalism my car gets when parked, the stupid revving, and sometimes i just want quiet and peace of mind, hehe.

i know that i will be compromising a lot of speed and returning to fwd, but im really looking into it. i will most likely do only 2 mods on the car. slam it on coilovers and put some nice wheels on it. as right now, my car is not exactly emission friendly in the state of california and tired of getting pulled over.

any pros/cons is appreciated guys. i know this is an acura forum so there may be more cons than pros

for price information check out this forum: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26640

utilize the search feature, as many questions are answered across the forum. people in cali are getting some good prices, so read the above thread carefully. it's a lot, but it's worth it.

and certainly test drive, cause this TSX is great, but you're dropping significantly in power, which you might miss more than you think. just a thought.

yes, i know that by getting a tsx it will be a lot slower...even than my 04 accord v6 coupe. im however tired of getting stopped by the police and would like to stay stock this time. i just called 2 local dealerships and they wouldnt even budge on the price...they wanted msrp and TTL

speak to the internet sales manager. and everyone on the other forum speaks of "keyes" acura in california? wherever they are? do not pay msrp.

most people are getting the car for 28,000 tops, pre ttl. many in cali got it for closer to 27,000

lol..this was at keyes. keyes acura is about 5 miles down from my house. the manager himself called me when i filled out the kbb request form.
he claims that they have the only white 6speed with navi in california right now so the price wont budge and theres no more 06 models coming in. even if this is the case, wouldnt be smarter on my part to wait until they are flooded with the 07s?

i would never pay retail for the car....ive told him the prices ppl on here got and he claims that he would loose money on the deal, lol. the managers name is David.

Interesting. It seems so many people who went there got good deals. Are there any other 06s they would be willing to deal on? Are you totally set on PWP or could you go with another color? If you wait for the 07s, you'll be waiting till like February. For some reason, these cars come in late and there sometimes aren't many to go around.

Try getting as many quotes as you can, and ask the other dealers if they'll match or beat another guy's price.

yes, im absolutely set on white. i had a white 04 accord and loved it. my evo is black, i bought it to see why all my friends like it and im not too fond of it.

i already have my heart set on a white tsx so i can put coilover on it along with gold te37s, hehe.

Man you are in the same boat that I was in, I also had an Evo, it was a white 03 Evo 8. I traded it in about two months ago for an 06 black tsx 6 speed. I wanted a white one soooo bad but I could not find one anywhere, so I went with a black one. Anyways, I know what you mean about switching from an Evo to a Tsx, but man I love my new car. I am doing the same thing, I'm slamming it on coilovers, my H&R coils are going to be ordered friday "my birthday, hehe"and I cannot wait.
If speed is not that big of an issue to you, then go for. I know every once in a while I miss the speed, but the Tsx is some more luxurious and quality built you cannot go wrong. I say trade in the Evo and SLAM the Tsx.

how much did you get an the evo? im still trying to figure out the best way to sell it, either trade it in or sell it to a broker around here who buys used evos. i truely love my evo, have about $7,000 invested in her in the 8 months of owning it. the car runs high 12s on a 1/4 and handle amazing. the only thing i dont like is that i cant ever drive in peace, theres always gotta be someone next to me who wants to race or challenee me. i hate street racing with all my heart so this is a major change of heart on my part.
if i do get a tsx, i will get it in white for sure or else i wont get it at all.
funny thing is that when i had the accord, 240hp wasnt enough, and now with the evo, i rarely hit full boost to get the 300whp and torque.
and how is the gas price on the tsx? i surely do miss putting 87 in my accord and still average about 22-23mpg, lol.
and yes, if/when i do get the tsx....slam it, 19 inch rays wheels, and a light tint. no more driving in fear of possibly getting smogged by the police, hehe.

update guys...not sure how many ppl even read this thread, but here goes, hehe.

i went to keyes today after the manager keeps emailing me and say they will do a more competitive pricing. i go down there, huge selection of cars by the way. they have the model i want, white 6speed with navi. they pull it up and the salesman took it off the lot. the salesman didnt drive stick very well. he was driving with the e-brake on for about a block or two until i reminded him, lol.
he was going to make a right turn, thats when he stalled. and the car wouldnt start...it said the battery was low or dead. at that point, were at a major intersection...luckily the car still had some what of a momentum for him to cruise where he was. i even took pix of this adventure lol. were about a mile from teh dealership now, he runs back to the dealership and told me to "hang out". i got out the car too and stood my the sidewalk because i felt it was dangerous to be in the car.
heres a pic of the car where it stopped with no one inside, lol..

afterwards, we went back to the dealership to get another 6speed tsx..i drove it for about 4 miles and went back to negotiate a deal. they wanted $31,000 for the car, thats with TTL and everything...but they were going to give me only $20,000 on my trade in which i felt was a big insult because the trade in value on my car right now is $26,000....if i sell private, i can nearly get $30,000.

even if i got a good deal, i dont think id feel too comfortable buying that car since of what happened today, lol.

it isnt "just like that"..the reason i considered the tsx is because ive been seeing out the door price of around $29,000ish for one with navi. my trade in value on the car is about $26,000, and if i sell private i can get around $28,000.
i figure that i have to add only a thousand or two for it with the trade in. now i cant even find a dealership with the color i want. ive called about 6 dealerships and they all said im all out of luck for a while. i love the white with tan and woodtrim interior and kind of regret getting my car in black with black interior.

and if i were to sell or trade in my car now, id have to part her out...which can take several days as i have to put the downpipe, cat, catback, injectors, boost controller, gauges, blow off valve, fuel pump, stock springs and shocks back on, and take out the audio system...this isnt hte problem..the problem is rather im not willing to trade in my car for $20,000 and take a $16,000 depreciation in 10 months. i will talk to my broker friend and see how much he can offer for the car.

thanks for the motivation, bro. either way, i have time on my side...thats how i look at it. its my first year of owning the car, this is where depreciation hits the worst. and im hoping the resalel of my car will go up next year when there are no more new evos since production of the evo stops in about 3 months and the evo x wont come out until 2010.
i know my friend just sold his 03 evo with 35,000 miles for $24,000 so what im asking for isnt that farfetch'd.
i really love the interior of the tsx though, the navi and bluetooth had me drooling. hoping to join one of you guys soon, as im tired of the childish car clubs with all the "i race this today" nonsense.

thanks again, fellas. i have a feeling that if that tsx i wanted doesnt sell in a month or so, theyll going to call me back, haha.

i believe the cops somewhat profile me because they see a 20 years old asian kid driving a semi modified rally car. i get pull over for doing the speed limit while the cadillac next to me is zooming out, lol.

oh well, i will keep you guys posted on my situation

Hang in there WJ4. I'm sure the time will come. But I would really suggest you to part out your Evo if you're selling it to a broker or going for a trade-in. Dealers will offer lower than the average trade-in value even if your car was bone stock. Mods will make your car's value lower. However, on the bright side, if you sell privately with your mods, you might get lucky at sell 2k-3k more than the average if you find the "right person". This right person will be hard to find, and will probably take you a while to find. But anyhow, I'd still go the private route, it's better finding the right one buying the entire package than finding the right oneS buying your car and the parts. It's tough, but I'm sure you can do it!

As for the TSX side of it, I guess you just have to find the right price. But one bad TSX doesn't mean all TSX is bad. They're proven reliable cars. In Canada, I got $3200cdn off for mine, but I don't know if you can get the same deal for yours. I am not sure if you want to wait for the 07s...cause it'll probably be another $500+ difference compared to the 07 with a few minor improvements. And if the 07s come in Feb, looks like they won't be offering any good discounts until next Apr or so. So you're in a tough situation if PWP manual w/ Navi is all you want. Cause I think only 10% of the TSX comes Manual and with Navi...I'd say around 5%-6% of the whole entire production.

However, good luck.

I'm asian, and I used to drive a modded car. I'm good with cops in Canada, however, everytime I drive down to the states, I get pulled over.... I'm no longer 20 yrs old, but I totally understand how you feel.

the broker i will go see tonite asks me to bring the car as is because he wants to give me an appraisal for my car with mods and w/o. he is a broker that owns a motorsports shop that specialize in evo's, lol. im almost certain that if he buys my car with mods, he'll part out my car himself and use my parts for his own evos or put them for sale, lol.

and yes, i know the tsx in manaul is really rare...it is like the honda accord v6 in stick shift. if i get the tsx, it will be my 3rd honda so i definitely know they are reliable and relatively cheap to maintain.

i've been helping out my mom and a few of her friends to buy cars, but i think this is the hardest one yet, lol. i dont think its hard because no dealerships are willing to budge, but rather the time frame. i didnt know the 07s wont come in until early next year so the supplies are very limited.

i had to settle for the black on black look on the evo and am kicking myself for doing it. a lot of my friends love the car and think that my taste for beige and wood trim interior is a bit boring, but i think its a really good combo, lol.

i'm just hoping that i will score a deal if the dealership doesnt sell the car soon. i think they only have 5 manuals out of the more than 35 tsx's they have on the lot, lol.

Have you tried telling your broker to take your car and ask Acura to sell him that vehicle? I had a broker did that for me and I find that the broker can get a better discount than we do because of the connections they have with dealers. You can see if that works for you.

Hey Wiz, goto Planet Acura in Downey or Tustin Acura.
I hear those dealers give out good deals.
I've also heard from others that Santa Monica Acura, Thomas Acura, South Coast Acura, and Cerritos Acura are good dealers to work with as well.

If you want wait until around late August or September, thats when dealers will want to get rid of the 06 inventory to make room for the 07's.

The TSX will be slower than the EVO. But the trade off is that the TSX gets great gas mileage, has very good reliability, and is quite comfortable.

You will not get nearly as much attention as being in an EVO, this is pretty much an anonymous car in comparison, alot of people do respect it though.

hey dude, i was waiting for you to chime in. i see you fix up your tsx a bit since ive seen u as well, lol. i called downey acura already and they said that the owner is the same as honda of downey so maybe they can cut me a deal since i bought my 7th gen from then in 04.
it looks like i have the upperhand in this deal...keyes just called me for the 2nd time since i left the dealership. they ask me to go back and re negotiate, haha.

now that i look at the 2008 tsx, im even thinking of waiting. i guess it will come down to if i can get the deal i want for the car and on teh tsx. ps kurt, do you still go to the meets?

Yeah I stuck some parts on it, hehe...
I still sort of goto the meets every now and then... they all have been pretty much dying though, the one I frequent is in 626.

I say stick with the EVO for now and wait until something newer comes out.
Unless you are really itching to get rid of it. But it can't be all that bad to have ~280ft/lbs AWD goodness at your disposal.
If you don't want the attention I suggest getting rid of the rear wing, debadge, and if you think cops are racial profiling you, then tinting your windows a bit within legal limits might help as well.

I might do that if i cant get a deal i want. i looked at the value of my car now with 18,000 miles and a value with the same car with 38,000 miles...its only $2,500 less.
yes the meets are dying out a bit, last time i went to the 818 one, there were less than 5 ppl (including me )

You'll miss the power =D

But I definitely get what you mean when you say you don't really like the unwanted attention.
I think you should wait it out a bit, if you think that your car won't depreciate as fast as you think, definitely wait it out and see what Acura or any other car company has in store for you for 2008 =]
