Condition of TSX stting in lot for 1 year
I'm thinking of purchasing a 2004 TSX (see if they can cut me a deal when the 2005s come out). My only concern is purchasing a vehicle that has been sitting through a New England summer and winter with (I assume) no use.
Can anyone comment on this?

No, I didn't, however, I know it's been there for at least 5 months. I was just thinking that the tires, oil, and gas sitting there for that long would somehow cause issues later on.

Exactly, an 04 could have been built in Sept. Very unlikely it was there for one year or even close to that.

True, I may be off on my estimate. Wouldn't make sense for a TSX to be there that long... Thanks for the input. Hopefully soon I'll be a fellow TSX owner... (may be asking a few more questions in the process).

i see you are from boston and i can almost say that the tsx you are lookin for wasnt there for more than a few months (3-4) max...i bought my car in august and most of the dealer ships in the boston area were lucky if they had any tsx's
acura of peabody had 3, a white demo with nav and two others without nav
acura of boston had only 3 or 4 of them none with nav at the time but when mine arrived there were maybe 10 tsx's on the lot from that shipment...don't get confused by the online inventory they list cars that they plan on recieving too, its not all the cars they have on hand...
just cause its a 2004 dont think it was built a long time ago and just sat there...mine was built in late july and shipped the first week of august...

Also, I stopped by at Acura of Boston this weekend. If that's where you went, they only had one TSX on the lot and it was a demo (and 1 in the showroom that was already sold). Maybe the saleman was wrong, but just my

I test drove in Northampton, NH... they didn't have any when I went, but that was before you so thanks for the tip. Did you get any kind of discount off MSRP? Were they at all flexible?

As others have suggested, check the build date on the B-pillar.
The car is built in Sayama, and takes at least 1.5 months to arrive in port, add another 1-2 weeks for the train ride.
When a car is shipped there are a couple things the factory does to ensure that they arrive, and can be stored, safely. I'm sure you've seen the eco-wrap they put all over the hood, roof, and trunk. I belive the TSX is also shipped with wheel protection (plastic over the wheel face) to protect the rotors from corrosion. They are also shipped with high tire pressures to prevent flat spotting (around 45-50psi).
The problem is most dealers take off the protection when they recieve the car and drop the tire pressures. If you can find out if and when this car was prepped for sale.
Either way, the warranty starts at the date of sale. You will be covered for anything that may result from sitting in a lot for an extended period of time. It is not rare for a car to be sold 3-4 months after it came off the line.

If ever, after having checked the build date, you found out the car had really sat for a year, ask the dealer for what reason exactly, and in any case, I would be cautious with it. A car deteriorates even though it doesn't move.
