Do I just gotta remove the top part? I see 2 screws holding it by a hinge so do I just have to remove those 2 screw and the top will just come of and I just replace with another top right?
This happened to me last winter, I snapped the latch off. I bought a new oem piece from a dealer $5 on eBay. You have to slide the exterior armrest from the inner part to access it. Didn't take too long and there is a diy link somewhere.
I did this repair last year. I am attaching the relevant pages from Helms. Step 4 is the one that required a little special knowledge. Once the sliding part is separated, it is pretty straightforward.
Once everything is disassembled, replacement is easy. The texture of the plastic of the replacement tab I received is a bit different from the original, but it's not a highly visible piece so no big deal.
The replacement locking tab I got was an OEM piece. It's just that the texture and finish of the plastic was slightly different than my original. Honda may have switched parts suppliers at some point. This is a pretty common issue when looking for replacement parts for older cars.
