Center of Attention

Is your TSX turning heads? Do people ask you about it at gas stations? Check you out in their rear view mirror? Attempt to have a front-end collision with you so that they can say, "Swell car! Here's my insurance card."

???

So far, it's only happened to me once -- during the state inspection. "What is this?" "What does it go for?"

I was really hoping to be the center of attention. At least once or twice!

I did have this Custom Chopper guy point it out to his female companion (can't definitively say she was a she). He literally point right at my car. I've also has a couple of civics do the lengthy look.

At least in my area, most people are driving Ford trucks or SUVs, so they're more pissed about all the non-American cars driving around. Not exactly the kind of attention I was looking for either, but then, who cares. I'M DRIVING A SWEET 4DR!!

no one has actually stopped and complimented the car as of yet. but i live in los angeles, so an acura tsx isn't a head turner like a ferrari/porsche/etc.

however, i always find people taking second looks at my car... more discretely than blatantly. kinda cool i guess...

The people who check my car out do it covertly. I saw a group of teenagers check it out in Greenville, Sc and plenty of import racers types point it out.

Other than that, not too much. I am o.k. with the lack of attention though. I bought this car for me and not other people. If i wanted the attention, I would have purchased a used 330 or something.

While I was in FL getting gas someone stopped at the gas station just to study the car.

I have received a few compliments while stopped at a red light.

I've watched people walk up to the car to look at it while I was eating at chili's.

So far such things have happened about 9 times.

At my mechanic today, my TSX got the whole shop to come out and see her. I was there to check if the 16" Accord rims fit on the TSX...it does, and makes a good winter rim for snows tires.
And on my way to get gas, a fellow IBP TSX owner honked at me...we should do what bikers do, give a hand sign as we pass each other...
At the gas station, the attentant asked to sit in my car today, I gave him the key to start the car, and he came out with a big smile.

So, was it that I've just applied 2 coatings of Finish First or was it the TSX? I think it was the TSX

Hasn't happened to me. Also, last night I saw a MSM TSX at the movie theater. Same row of the parking lot that I saw one there a couple weeks ago.. probably (hopefully?) the same one.

IT FINALLY HAPPENED TODAY!!!
I pulled up to a restaurant with an outdoor seating area and a guy whipped his head to blatantly stare then tapped his girlfriend and pointed. Needless to say when my g/f mentioned this I was one little happy camper!!!!

I'm in SoCal and my black TSX gets as much attention as a Ferrari. I've had several people come up and ask me about the car and I average about 10 pointing people a day.

So either they are in love with my TSX or they think I'm Snoop Dogg. I'm going to go with the former.

Where in Cinci do you live? BMW's, VW's, and Saabs are the norm where I live. And an occasional Ferrari coming from Indian Hill. And yes, Fords and SUV's are popular as well.

At my first gas fillup, there was an older Mustang driven by a guy next to me. His daughter inside the car saw my car and started asking her dad...."Dad, what kinda Acura is that?" Dad replied (after seeing the TSX badge in the rear), "It's a TSX." The daughter then asked, "What's a TSX?" Then the dad approached me and asked me if the TSX is the replacement of the Integra. I then said "ah, you're talking about the RSX. This is the Japanese and European Accord." "Oh...nice car," he said.

Hey, I can answer my own thread! I went to the car wash last night -- I imagine half the readers on this board just cringed! -- and the attendant said three times ...

I love your car.

Nice car.

It's a beautiful car.

Sadly, I've had little blatant attention.

Like others have siad, that's not why I got the TSX.

But after hearing all your experiences, I was kind of looking forward to some attention.

A close call: I caught up to and trailed a 5-Series on the highway. As I pulled up next to him, he slowed and drove even with me. Just as I'm gloating because a Bimmer driver is checking me out, I realize he's just slowing down to change lanes and exit.

The security guard at my development complimented the car though. She said, "take good care of my car, you hear?"

Maybe that was better than anything from some Germanophile.

Man, I feel like I'm the only one that gets crazy attention from my car. I've been stopped at a red light and complimented at least 5 times. I've had at least 4 or 5 people come up and ask me about the car at the gas station. I've had people perusing around my car while it was parked checking it out and looking in the windows and telling their friends about it.

This is the first car I've ever had where people want to know everything about it. It's definitely flattering, but it feels kinda weird that I'm getting this much attention. Maybe it's just here in Atlanta. I dunno.

It's because you have CG/QZ and they don't

Mine turns heads, but no one's really asked me about it yet. The ones who the most are owners of 4-door integras. Don't believe me? Try passing one on the street

I actually had someone who owned a loaded 330i approach me at a gas station. He basically said he was real close to getting a TSX and he was pretty sure BMW would love "some" 325i sales to the TSX for sure if not for another reason ... price.

He then proceeded to tell me how rich is was so he got a $40K+ 330i Ok ... he didn't say that, but it was implied

Had a cop who was doing traffic control stop me and check out the car. He especially liked the "cool" lights.

Yesterday, in the parking lot of Circuit City, as I approached my car, a young guy asked, "Is that your car?" Yes. "It's beautiful. I want one!"

At an open house over the weekend, the realtor asked, "Is that the new Acura? It looks really nice! It replaces the Integra, right?" [Insert sound of needle skipping across record.]

You know, I don't mind the fact that it "sorta" replaces the Integra sedan. The RSX replaced the Integra coupe, and the TSX, while based on the Euro Accord, is Acura's entry level sports sedan. I liked the Integra and feel a stronger bond (if anything) to current Integra drivers than US Accord drivers.

Well I hope I will be experiencing what you all have. I'm sure I will, since I have yet to see even one TSX on the road here in STL. Maybe I'm not out enough, but i'm sure looking for them. All this talk is really making me antsy to get mine, but not until the end of august.

At 38, I think I'm among the older TSX owners on this board. And I have the Duran Duran records to prove it.

It happened twice so far. One lady followed me inside a parking garage and when I parked and got out of my car, she asked me, "What kind of car is that?".

The second time happened at another parking garage and a man was walking with his wife and young children when I drove by. He stopped, had his mouth dropped wide open, pointed and tugged at his wife's shirt. That one was pretty funny...

Thanks for taking that dud off my hands, Mo -- I hated that car!

P.S. I didn't really get it, but I can do my lines anyway.
