Question CD changer plays CD-RW?

Hi all, I am a newbie to this forum.

Yesterday just took delivery of a '05 6MT Graphite Perl, no NAV. Loving this car!!!

I've done some searching around, doesn't seem like it's been asked/mentioned, so posting a new thread here. Does the CD changer play CD-RW? I haven't got any CD-RW in hand to test out, hoping someone has the answer.

Thanks.

CD-RWs work for me. Mine are the 10x kind, and a few years old.

I should mention I have Nav, but I tried CD-RWs on non-Nav during my test drive.

Thumbs up Yupper!

The CD-RW plays perfectly fine. Now I can start listening to downloaded "singles" before there are enough to fill a CD-R!

Just make sure to leave CDs with paper labels off the player!! It's hot inside the player and the label will come out, ruining your stereo.

I'm not positive, but I think he's probably talking about CD-Rs that have had paper labels put onto them by someone after they were burned. You can buy kits that let you print out custom labels using your ink jet printer at home and then you stick them on top of the CD.

Yeah, I always write labels on my CD-R/RW with markers - no paper sticker label.

i for one have had problems from day 1 with playing cd-r's in my tsx's non-nav cd changer. i bought a pre-owned silver 6mt 2004 TSX about a month ago, and i've been thrilled with the car...except for the cd player. i've tried different brands of cd-r's, even the well-regarded "digital vinyl" ones that are supposed to be great for audio cd-players, and their readability has been spotty at best: sometimes they work, most of the time they do not. i've tried skipping over the first few tracks, as this is a fix that sometimes works, but generally it does not...anyone have any ideas to remedy my problem?

What brands of CD-Rs have you tried? I've used TDK and Imation CD-Rs to great success. Also, try burning the CD-Rs at a slower speed to prevent them from having mistakes and errors.

Yeah, could be the quality of the CD-R plus the speed of it getting burned.

thanks cgtsx,

i've tried Verbatim, Maxell, and Kodak....i think i might have even tried TDK, but i'll give that one another try...funnily enough the cd that seems to work the most often is a brand called "Pine", which i bought in a cheap 30-pack at costco. is a 8x burn too fast? if so i'll try a slower rate...fyi i'm using iomega Hot Burn, which was the software bundled with my external burner...actually, one other thing i just though of: i live up in montreal and it gets pretty cold in the winter (down to -20 celsius (or about 5 degrees farenheit), will these extreme temperatures compromise the quality of a burned cd, enough so to render it unreadable?

Also the quality of the CD-RW drive can affect the ability to read the disc in the TSX. I use lite-on drives and never had a problem, and I burn up to 16x for music. What drive are you using?

i'm using a 2-year-old iomega external cd-burner. iomega is a brand name, so i have to figure that it's decent quality.
