cargo net

I forgot to ask the dealer to throw in the cargo net. If anybody out there doesn't have the cargo net either, does the car come with the right hooks already in place? In other words, can I just order the $25 cargo net from hondacuraworld.com and hook it on?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is the same one or not, but I still have my cargo net from my CL-S. You can have it for $15 shipped.

There are something like 5 pages of instructions to install the cargo net. Unfortunately it doesn't just "hook on". The insides of the trunk have to be taken out, I think a few holes need to be drilled etc... Not difficult, but time consuming. My dealer just put mine in the bad and put it in my trunk. After I found out what a pain in the ass it was to install I made them do it.

I saw the instructions you are talking about, but what I can not understand is what are those silver hooks on top of the spare cover towards the back of the trunk( front of the car)?

sheik28,
The silver hook things look to be tie-down points, that's how I'm using them.

Hope this helps

BTW, I picked up a Case Logic 'folding cargo bag' from Target for $20. the velcro on the bottom keeps it in place, and it provides a good way to keep stuff in your trunk without it rolling around. It's a cheap/easy alternative to installing a cargo net, and works better for me.

Hm i just need to be able to keep my basketball in the car without having it roll around in my trunk. That vecro cargo bag doesn't seem bad at all. Maybe i should use that.

Here's a pic of the trunk tray and you can see the tie down points people are talking about.

Yep, I use it for my volleyball, frisbees, air pump, and other misc. stuff that would clutter up my trunk otherwise. I should have gotten this bag a long time ago! And it comes out easily if you want to take it all with you. (Or folds up pretty compactly if you just need to hide it out of the way.)

Looks like you can't use the trunk tray (which many of us received for "free") with the neato cargo bag from Target. Alas.

The velcro on the cargo bag won't stick to the trunk tray, no. I was considering putting down a strip or two of velcro down on the trunk tray if I get it. The "hook" side is what's on the bottom of the bag, so the softer "loop" side is all you'd need to put on the tray.

I got the cargo net for mine. Put it in myself. Not really a big deal to put in. Just took some time - maybe an hour or two. Just follow the instructions and take your time. It's really not that hard. Remove the liner in the trunk, drill a few small holes, and you're done.

thanks for the answers, all.

hondaboy_tsx, where did you get the kit? I wonder if the cargo net offered at hondacuraworld.com includes all necessary parts for me to install it myself?

I got my kit from the parts dept at the local Acura dealer. It came with all the hardware + instructions needed to assemble.

My wife gave it to me as a gift - she couldn't recall the exact price, but believes it was somewhere around $38 (after tax). Not too bad of a price...I use it to hold my golf umbrella & it works great!

The cargo net is pretty cool. You can turn it upside down to help prevent things from submarining underneath if needed.

Best use so far: Grocery hauling. If you use plastic bags, the trunk tray is "sticky" enough that it will grab the bag and the items will slip out. The cargo net holds everything.
