Car takes awhile to start

After turning to key to start, it takes a good couple of seconds to start... 2-3, maybe 4 seconds.
My 11 year old Sentra takes less time to start than a brand new TSX.

Does the TSX come with a weak starter or battery or something?
Is it all the electronics? All my accessories are off when I start.

^^It's normal. The cranking power of the battery isn't that great. I don't know about 4 seconds though...

99mm stroke, 10.5:1 Compression Ratio, 400cca battery, go figure.

The computer is trying to minimize the amount of fuel it is using upon start up so that fuel and environmental costs are minimized. Nothing wrong. I think the battery has too little CCA but that's not really why it takes longer.

if you find that, on occassion, it does take a little longer to start, it's normal.

details are in your quick start guide, which came with your owners manual.

400 Cold Cranking Amps is part of your answer.. the engine stroke and high compression is the rest..

Edit: just noticed the above

there was a comment about that in a recent review of the 06 tsx and the long crank to start. it's been common in the 04, 05 and 06

Yea, an effort to reduce emmisions, higher compression engine, and weaker CCA from the battery. That really sums it up. A combination of all of those will make a huge difference. The only way to get her to start quicker is with a more powerful battery. The one i recommend is optima. Do a search for my Optima redtop writeup.

So when I have to replace my battery, I should replace it with something that has more than 400 CCAs?
