i think he was refering to how he only listed the TSB's for the s2k during 2003 but not 2002 but to make the bimmer look worse by listing more years as well.

uh huh huh.....yeah, those stupid engines putting out low emissions that offer over 30 mpg which are much cheaper even though it has a higher bhp/liter ratio and will last longer than it's german counterparts. wasting money......fun indeed. underpowered?

I thought for sure this thread would be started by gilbo - he makes up for it with his usual comments.
Wait until the first year E90 3 series - that should have an even longer list.

ah gilbo, you cease to amaze. besides, i'm sure any tl owner is having more fun than either.
ah..the good old stupid hp/liter that ricers of underpowered cars like to use. please explain how hp/liter offers any advantages? and the MPG is better b/c there is less power across the board. This is the same as saying an echo hatch offers way better MPG...so what? it uses less gas b/c it makes less power. yes the TL owners love a big FWD boat with failing trannies. the new TL can't even measure up to a regular 325i, so dont even go there. its as dumb as saying a daewoo driver is having more fun.
but the first mention of hp/liter gave away you are a total clueless though.

Well a TSB is not always a bad thing.

Recalls, yes.. TSB's not so much

Many TSB's are simply addendums to the service manual for that year.

For example over half of those pontiac ones are simply updates on prodedures.. yes there are few that document new problems but a good deal of all of the TSB's for all the cars are just updated guides on troubleshooting.

Yes TSB's arent always bad. "teh suck" Pontiac goes back 5 years. The BMW list would probably be several yards long if it did. So might the S2K.

Haha. you're a very funny guy. Them wait for me? Yeah cause I need to pick their asses up from the dealership since it's always at the shop for recalls and parts failing. And you said they must be having more fun than me? Sure, I guess you waiting for your own car to get repaired more than spending time on the road must be fun!!! Fine, I do agree that the TSX is under powered. But so? Was the TSX meant to go fast? No, neither are the 3 series (except M3) If you think your little shit box is the world's fastest car. Why not go and spam SRT forums? Tell them that FWD cars are shit. See if a SRT4 would even give a f**k what you say? My buddies SRT4 with Mopar stage 2 turbo and some easy tuning can already blow a M3 away. Even if I take my stock RSX-S will blow 320i's, 323i's, 325i's and whatever BMW decide to name their POSs under. So what's your point? You're unbelieveble!!!!
And I'm gonna end this here with a :fingerfawk: and have a nice day!!!

but the first mention of hp/liter gave away you are a total clueless though.
obviously higher hp/liter ratios simply means that you're getting more power from a smaller displacement, usually at higher rpms. but it can also indicate that the engine is NOT underpowered for its size. that was my only point with the ratio. an 84hp/liter ratio is pretty high, especially for a non-turbo/supercharged engine. underpowered for a heavier car? maybe. underpowered for a non-turbo/supercharged 2.4? no. and this has nothing to do with ricers. racers maybe, but you probably wouldn't understand that connection anyway.

as for mpg, it was also my point that the car is made with economy in mind, so no one expects a faster 0-60 or more hp than a 330 (maybe except you). once again, it doesn't mean the engine is underpowered.

fwd cars? that has only a limited impact on how much fun you can have with a car. my '94 saturn with some minor mods made sharp left turns at over 40mph and sharp rights at 20mph, without tires making so much as a squeal. i had just about as much fun with my saturn as i did with my friends' '97 m3 and '82 911, except on straightaways. i bet once i get my springs and intake, i'll have more fun in my tsx than i would in a 330 or a tl, especially since i already test drove both.

so far you're the only one to even mention a daewoo in an arguement involving acuras and bimmers.

the tl can't match up to the 325i? the 325i? it beats it in so many ways, the 330 is used in most comparisons with it instead.

clearly you need to do everyone a favor and try something you've never done before: your homework. apparently, i'm not alone on this one either.

i know this post comes off as hateful, but it's mostly passionate arguement. and only a little hate.

apparently you drove a magical TL that didnt get slammed in all the mag comparisons btwn it and 325i and G35's where its FWD was evident whenever it was pushed. IF you had as much fun in a saturn with shocks/springs as a 97 M3, then sure you'll love the TSX. but springs/intake does not make a car RWD or have 50/50 weight distribution or improve braking distance or correct understeer. i'm sorry you sound like the classic ricer. intake/springs...bwhahaha... springs do jack, if you want a real improvement, get springs/shocks/sway bars/strut bars/bushings/brace and getting a intake alone without an exhaust makes no sense, you are sucking in more air but its still restricted by a stock exhaust. but if you say a 94 saturn with minor mods can have much fun as a 97 M3, then save your money just cut your springs and get a muffler and it'll be so much better than a 2003 M3

the saturn mods included springs, shocks, front/rear strut tower bars, tires/rims, and more balanced weight distribution. i never said springs were the only thing needed to improve handling. i plan on getting better shocks for my tsx as well and adding a little weight on the rear for balancing. and springs alone actually do increase handling noticeably, depending on the stiffness and quality of the springs; shocks augment handling performance. only fools or people without a lot of money would cut their springs.

as for intakes, many cars are not usually designed with max air flow through the exhaust system with an standard oem intake. there's always room for a slight increase in air flow without having to change the exhaust setup. once larger mods such as replacing the throttle body, headers, manifolds, etc. are changed to increase air intake, then a higher-volume exhaust setup is usually needed.

i don't know about the tl getting "slammed" for it's handling. i DO know most respected sources describing the tl as having moderate torque steer and that the fwd is evident mostly on turns when the throttle is opened or traction is being lost, making the assist overpowering and causing SLIGHTLY slower runs in slalom-style driving. therefore, the tl could benefit from rwd.

true, the tl and tsx aren't as good as the 3-series' handling, braking, or weight distribution and don't have rwd. but to stay with the main point of the argument: saying the tsx's engine is underpowered is just plain wrong. i'm going to let go of the entire "fun" arguement since that is clearly only subjective.

i now realize why people don't argue with you; it's always pointless arguing with someone who's so blinded by their obsession that they're too subborn to admit they're ever wrong, even when they are. btw, you're use of the term "ricer" is also a little superfluous.

as for intakes, many cars are not usually designed with max air flow through the exhaust system with an standard oem intake. there's always room for a slight increase in air flow without having to change the exhaust setup. once larger mods such as replacing the throttle body, headers, manifolds, etc. are changed to increase air intake, then a higher-volume exhaust setup is usually needed.

curious to know..how did you manage to improve weight distribution in a saturn?? you sat in the back as your drove? added some bricks in the trunk?

Which magazine actually slammed the TL? :sqnteek:

I think you need to get your facts straight, or at least learn to read. Every magazine review of the TL I've ever read has been positive, saying that the car is one of the best in its class. They do admit there are limitations to the FWD platform, but that the overall balance of performance, luxury, and amenities makes the car well worth the money. Plus, that same review you're quoting also had the TL beating out a few other RWD cars so I wouldn't exactly say it was slamming the TL.

Of course, you BMW people don't understand value since you paid $30K+ for a compact car so I suppose this argument isn't worth having.
