Bluetooth compatibility

So I know I'm just freaking out here, but I need some support to calm down. I have an 06 TSX on order coming in the first week of December and I'm freakishly excited about making phone calls with my car. I have a Motorola v600. It's shown all over the demo video on Acura's site, but when I look at what phones are compatibile it says the V600 fails on a battery level. Since everything else has a check does anyone think it'll still work, or would Honda/Acura go to the trouble of blocking the ability to pair that phone?

Also I just noticed on the site that the first 90 days of XM is free. Had no idea. That's a nice touch.

My guess is that it means that the battery level indicator won't work. Probably everything else will work and you can pair your phone.

Yea it is killing me that Sprint has little to no bluetooth enabled phones. I was really hoping that the new phone I am thinking about getting in January would work.

I may even change carriers just to be able to pair my phone together!

I read it on the "mini-site" for the HandsFreeLink. It's under "Find a Phone".

I doubt they would block the phone from being paired. This would require extra validation by the bluetooth adapter, and I doubt they would go to the trouble of having it filter out certain phones.

They just posted that to cover there butts if people complain that the V600 is not fully working.

That's how it is with the TL. I have a Moto V710 w/ Verizon (only BT phone they carried at the time), and it doesn't display the battery meter nor the signal strength.

Doesn't interfere with making/receiving calls, however.

Does anyone know if I purchase that Jabra A210 BlueTooth adapter will it interface with the TSX?

Acn684, yea but the two companies are still maintaining separate plans and phones though.

It seems most motorolas don't support the battery indicator. This does not limit functionality, you just won't see the battery lever displayed in the Mulit info display. Sony-Ericsson does, and when I had the K700 and T68i you could see the little battery icon.

I was reading magazines at the newstand while my wife was shopping today and saw a mag called "cell phone reviews" or something similar. I have a V710 so read the review and they say the same thing as the above posters, good phone, Bluetooth compatible, but lacking some Bluetooth capability as pointed out above. Anyway, what perked me up was that they said these deficiencies will be rectified by a software upgrade. Does this sound logical?

When I bought my phone approximately two months ago in anticipation of getting my TSX the seller said software upgrades were coming although he didn't say why. I wasn't going to bother but now I'll have to get back to them.

Sounds logical. I agree it is possible, but somehow I wonder about motorolas commitment to an older phone. You could check out http://www.motomodders.net/ and see if anyone can help you there Keep in mind that great care needs to be taken when flashing a phones firmware. IMO not having the battery indicator is no biggie and not worth the trouble.

Just for the interest of anyone still interested in this thread, I finally got my car and all functions of my V710 work, signal strength, state of battery charge, and roam status. It didn't work on earlier versions so they may have upgraded other phones such as the V600 as well.

For those that haven't tried Bluetooth yet it's an awesome feature, everything it's cracked up to be. It's also very simple to use, not a bit complicated, I'm computer/camera/cell phone illiterate and I'm using it!!

Edit: to clarify, when I say all functions work I'm mean to say they show up on the multi info display on the dash. It also shows number called and number calling.

thanks for the heads up. i have two v600 one of them has a newer firmware. i hope one or the other works w/ the signal/battery level.

can u check the firmware version on your v710?

my v600g is TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.2FR_A1
also, how quick is the pairing? you don't have to flip open the phone to pair do you? i was under the impression you push a button on the TSX wheel to automatically pair. is that the case?

My version is TELUS_1X_1.OF.2P all of which means nothing to me.

Paring is very easy but you do have to turn your phone on and enable Bluetooth, if you scroll through your setting you can find it, I think it's under connections. Your phone may be different. If you know what your doing it probably takes 30 seconds, my salesman did it and that's how long it took him.

I've had hands free cell phones in several vehicles because of my job but this is by far the slickest setup I've seen. Good luck. Oh, instructions for paring are in the owners manual but I had already downloaded them from Acura's website. You really don't even need instructions once you've seen it done.

yeah, i've used bluetooth on a wireless headset, but each time i want to pair the phone to the headset i have to flip open the phone and go to connection and look for the device.

i was hoping the pairing on the TSX was a bit more automatic in that the vehicle connects to the phone by a push of a button, rather than going in the phone settings each time i want to pair with the vehicle. i do think the first time it takes a bit more after you enter the security code, then it's probably quicker.

I think this all depends on the phone. My old Sony K700i would stay in Bluetooth mode till I turn BT off, turn the phone off, or the battery runs down. If I get in and out of a paired bluetooth car, I don't have to do anything to connect. When the car goes on, it finds the bluetooth device and works. If it detects two paired bluetooth devices, it will bond with the one used most often in the car.

My motorola will not stay in bluetooth mode after the connection is lost. So I have to open up the phone when I get in the car to initiate pairing. I'd imagine if I turned on the blutooth function before I turn on the car, it will detect once the car is running.

If you're on a call when you get to the car, you can transfer the call to the car by saying "transfer". (at least that's how the TL works, haven't tried in irsthand on the TSX yet)

You do the initial paring, just like whith the headphone, where you choose a PIN. After that one-time set-up, it auto pairs every time the phone is near. My wife gets in the car and drives, phone stays in her purse. If someone calls, the car rings. If you want to place a call, just push the button, never touch the phone.

When you initially pair bluetooth devices, they ask for a 4 digit # that you punch into both devices. This is to protect from someone pairing to one of your devices and gaining control.

Yup, I probably didn't explain it right. Once it's paired you don't do anylthing, at least with my phone. As the previous poster indicated, just get in the car with your phone on and the car finds it.

Anyone get an answer for this or try it? I'm about 3 months into a 2 year agreement when I got the car, so getting a new phone isn't an attractive option when I can get an adapter for under $50.

No trouble pairing my T-Mobile Samsung t809 with my 06 TSX; no battery/signal indicators, but everything else works great.

The jabra A210 will not work with any car bluetooth. It will only work with another bluetooth headset. I don't understand why Jabra did this..... I already called Jabra cust rep to confirm.....
