Blipping the throttle in neutral yeilds little response from engine?

Does anyone else notice this?
It's always been like this. Blip throttle to double clutch, tach swings up to 1000, maybe 1500.

So I do some more testing and I give it a real quick blip all the way down to the floor, and it still barely moves.

I've found myself in some embarrassing situations because I don't want to jam the shifter into gear without it rev matched, so I'm at a near standstill for a couple of seconds while everyone else has taken off.

Why are you double-clutching? Just blip the throttle and drop it into gear. Double-clutching is really only needed if you don't have synchros on your transmissions.

And its the DBW over compensating for the quick blip. I experience the same issue from time to time if I apply the throttle too abruptly when downshifting. Usually, if I end up in this situation, I will just slip the clutch a bit to smooth out the shift.

Yeah when downshifting into first double-clutching is the way to go.

Downshifting into 1st! I have never had the need to do such thing. I'm curious, can you describe when you need to do this?

When you don't want to lug the engine, say going up an incline at 5 mph?

I do the same thing. Right around my house there are some crazy steep hills complete with intersections that involve nearly making a U-turn. 1st gear is the only option. It's not easy to get into first while still moving without double clutching.

I've not had any problems with the engine response though. They way I do it is to just give enough clutch to pop out of second (it only takes a very light stab) then as I'm passing through neutral get off the clutch, blip the throttle and apply light pressure to the shifter in the direction of first. When the RPMs are right (around 2k generally, I'm going quite slow at this point) it will just slip right into 1st effortlessly. It takes some practice to get the fell right but once you've got it down, it works like a charm.

Don't try this above 5mph or so. Doing it wrong can send a lot of shock through the transmission and easily break things.

I've always managed to get into 1st at any speed by blipping the gas before moving the shifter into 1st (have never felt the need to double clutch).

same "problem" here...you have to push down on the gas longer than usual to get it close to the RPM that you want.
